Poll: The best GeForce2 MX - Which is it?

I've noticed there are a number of MX's out there, and to my understanding, when it comes to it, the best one seems to be either the ASUS 7100 MX or the Hercules 3D Prophet II MX.
Now, which of these two cards is the better one?

Does anyone know how the two card's dual-display/twinview features compare?

And, last, is there perhaps any other good buy/card I've missed that has a better price/performance ratio than these two?

Thanks,

Linus

Umm, where is the poll?

I went for the MSI MX (8817), because i found one that was much cheaper than the other name brands around. Most MXs seem to reference designs-so speed doesnt seem to be an issue.

It comes down to the quality of the extra features -Tv Outs, Twin view etc. These didnt interest me, so i couldnt justify paying for them

I believe the Herc already come "overclocked" and is also easier to overclock, that gives it the edge in my book.

The Herc does not come overclocked, but the retail version is equipped with 5.5ns RAM, which is a great advantage over the 7ns RAM found on most other MXs.

I'll have to say the Hercules one. Simply because the RAM comes clocked at a higher speed (183MHz as opposed to 166MHz). And it is usually the most overclockable. I've heard of the occasional non Hercules MX not being able to hit the 200MHz range which is what you need for decent frame rates. :)

BTW where's the poll? ;)

The Hercules one does not come overclocked. It uses 5.5ns SDRAM which is meant to run at 183MHz. All the other MX cards use 6ns SDRAM which is only certified for 166MHz operation. Although they can usually go higher.

I suppose the Guillemot Prophet 2 MX would be the "best" geforce 2 MX card, since it comes with the 5.5 ns ram. I have a Creative Annihilator 2 MX DDR and a A-Open Geforce 2 MX, and I am happy with both of them. I haven't tried to overclock them yet, but I believe they will do so, particularly if I add a heatsink and fan to the Creative card and a fan to the A-Open (which came with a heatsink installed). I never run more than 1024x768 resolution on my 17" monitors, so I am happy with the GF2MX and saved over $40 apiece compared to the Prophet 2 MX.

the eVGA Geforce2 MX is a darn nice card too... I had one before my Geforce2 GTS 64meg and it performed very well OC`d or not. Really wish I had kept it because it OC`d very well with no problems and was a lot cheaper than most other MX`s

that .02 thing...

v7100 is the better card in my book but better preformce will be garnered from a nice healthy memory overclock so the card with the fastest ram is the way to go.

i'd go with the prophet as well. Without a fan on the heat sink that comes with the board, i was able to get it to run 200/210 with no artifacts.
