There is no Celeron 800. The highest speed announced so far is 766.

Hm... I dont think the vote should take overclocking into account, and it really shouldn't.

Edit Ok if you really want to take overclocking into account, put the Duron 600@1000, kills both P3-550@733 and C566@850.

For what it's worth, my computer magazine says the cost effective choice for great gaming is based on an Athlon 600. Sounds about right to me as I have one.

There are two different "averages". First there is the "average" CPU form readers on these forums which will be much higher than the "average" CPU of everyone. I myself have a Cel 566@850. I would say the average CPU for the mainstrean is somewhere between 300 and 400 MHz. I could be wrong though.

Bad enough we've got so many damn polls cluttering up the place without so many being as lame as this one! :|

Like sandorski said, the question is too general and the answers too specific. My sense is that most of the general public owns something like a Pentium II 400MHz.

If you wanted to get real averages you shoulda only put the MHz on the poll, brand doesn't really matter as long as you specify the platform...just my .2

No 900mhz Thunderbird? so cannot vote, you need to put more Processor speeds in there if you want Members to vote & get a accurate poll reading.
