Poll: Testing interest in paying for a dedicated UT2004 server.

Hey guys. After a successful bout of playing UT2004 Demo today, lots of you have expressed interest in getting a dedicated server going for AT members. I want to test the waters a bit and see who is interested in throwing in some money to do this.

Please vote in the poll, and give some suggestions on which site/company to go with. We will list all possible price options here. Thanks guys!

EDIT: Game is scheduled for release on March 16th. This gives us a month to find the interest and means of getting a dedicated server.
 
if i wasnt in a clan for another game id be interested, all these demo servers even suck ass; i was pinging 200-300 on most of them :/
 
bf1942 would take the costs WAY up as it uses so much ram.

the cost for a 16 slot server would be 40$ a month. the more slots, the more money, the cheaper per slot.

id do it, i know my friend would. if we did it this way, i would set up a website specifically for us. have a paypal, it would cost like 1.50 a month. we have an AT member who would gladly keep the server up and secured.

Who offers the best bang for your buck gaming servers?
 
When i went through all this hustle and bustle looking for a server for my clan in CS we settled on GameDaemons, they are expensive but they get the job done. We tried a more budget oriented approach and paid for it.

X Gaming Servers these guys were a close runner up
Gamedaemons This is who we went with, def a lil pricey.
Art Of War Central these guys were never up to snuff performance wise IMO.

Griffin Run is overpriced and they suck.


btw the price of UT2k4 demo servers is upwards of 100 a month from a reputable company with a decent amount of player slots (16+) assuming its public.

Care to share who this fellow AT member is? How much is he/she willing to set aside?

I was checking out some of these sites, and this stuff is a little more pricey than I had imagined. I was thinking more along the lines of $50/month, not double that.

I'm the ATer that nourdmrolNMT1 talked to 🙂 I would basically be willing to run a game server for anandtech, at cost which is along the lines of $40-50 for a 16 player private server (so that only ATers could use it).
 
bump for more votes. right now it seems split between NO, and i would love to but dont have the money.

blurred, if you could, put the cost in the top post see how that changes votes if it does.

i would play sometimes, and might have a few bucks i could pay pal to you if it the connection is good enough.
 
I wouldn't mind paying my couple of pounds, providing there'd be someone else to play at UK times!
 
I've started a UT2k4 demo server temporarily. Let me know how it is.

It's called ATOT Onslaught public server, no password required

You should be able to find it on the master server list.
