The thing I didn't know is that if you file an extension, you have to pay what you think you'll owe anyway. Otherwise you get chared fees and interested and such and end up paying even more. But I guess that makes sense or people would just always file extensions and not pay for a while.
I'm Filing an extension tonight if I can't get my numbers to jive. Using tax software and it keep showing me owing different amounts when I enter in my information.
E-filed on Wednesday and mailed the check this morning, thanks to the sterling talents of H & R Block, who knocked a load of money off my taxes. I still owe money, but I'm not bending over and handing the IRS a jar of lube either.
My accountant filed them about 3 weeks ago. IRS.gov expected to have my return to me by May 10th, but I got it today!!!
Amazing that the govt. was actually EARLY with money.
Now I just have to wait for my NYS return. I should get that by xmas. :roll:
