Would you take a job that:

1. pays little
2. has lots of room for growth + good pay in the future (within a year)
3. requires a 90 mile drive in each direction (5 days a week, fairly easy commute)
4. is a job that you think you will really like doing

5. there are other positions that pay more, with room for growth, with 10 mile commute, but you dont like the job as much

EDIT: 90 miles each way will occur for 10 weeks.

Everything besides that 90 mile drive sounds great, I live about a 1/2 mile from where I work, I love the commute time :D

Sounds like aside from low starting pay and the commute it's a great job for you. For me the low pay, assuming future growth, would be mostly a non-issue. 3hr or more on the road 5 days a week IS an issue for me. If it's an easy commute (as in you don't have to deal with slow downs ever) I'd go for it. 90 mile drive + potential traffic jams would kill the deal for me I think. Especially if there was other work close by.

What happens after 10wks? You move closer or something? I could probably deal with that commute for 10wks... maybe.

no traffic jams but most of it is a one way with 45 (or maybe 50, not sure) speed limit.

If you think you can put up with the commute for 10 weeks, go for it. Moving closer after the 10 weeks or what?

Only you can decide if that drive is worth it. It will wear on your body and soul rather quickly.

If the job satisfication of that commute is worth that much more than the local offerings you will move. This is a decision only you can make. Just keep in mind that if you are going to take a position you MUST take it for at least a year for the betterment of your career.

The choice is yours and your alone.
