The sole thing that I think AT could improve on is the lack of programming discussion. I know from previous questions and threads alot of members program or know something about it. I'm starting this thread to poll the AT members, to see what you guys think. Would you say that having a forum dedicated to programming (all the languages in one) would be benefitial to AT and it's members? Please share your thoughts.

I don't know how much traffic a coding forum is going to get. Besides, isn't that what the software forum is for? That said, I voted yes on accident.

well, I think a programming forum might come in handy. I think it would help a lot of people. the only reason i don't like posting any java questions on the software forum is because nobody ever checks it. the only time i post questions there is when I know I can wait for an input.

personally i think ppl will just abuse it...i mean ppl wont spend the extra time to think how to solve their own problems and just start posting whenever the slightest question arises for their programs...just my opinion....

People here have always been kind enough to answer my programming questions. But, I usually pose my questions via PM. Also, I always make it a point to post my question in a programming specific forum before I post here. It makes things much more efficient. Though I am not opposed to having additional forums, I don't see the point of splitting hair. :)

By that same token, go to a coding site. Idiotic comments like yours work both ways. The off topic forum seems to be getting more and more car threads. Why not put them in their own forum.

Nothing like talking about QBasic and Pascal. Oh wait, what year is it? I'm not sure that it would be that big of a forum, but it would make it easier to find some issues frequently seen in the programming part of the industry. I would think it would be thought of by AT like the seperation of the mobo forum into companies. I think it is a good idea though, and would probably attract more highly technical members. I'll vote "yes" on this one!

that's because the off topic forum is a forum for stuff besides computers like babes, cars and whatever you feel like. This is a computer related site, that's why no matter how many people wanna talk about cars, we'll never have a section for cars here. Don't call my comments idiotic if they make perfect sense

I don't think we have enough programmers to warrant a programming forum. We have a lot of members who "dabble" in it, or who would ask very general questions, but nothing too in depth. With that in mind, they would probably just be better served looking at a newsgroup or something.

I think the "Software ..." forum covers it fairly well, although I do sometimes have a hard time finding the actual programming threads. I agree with bigrash9, and because of that, I don't think they'd create one.

It's kind of like the "Highly Technical" forum deal from awhile ago. We didn't have that many high tech threads but once it got it's own forum people seemed to find their way over;)

That's just it. Me and a friend started a place for programming (link in sig) but it's not an established community like AT. It would take off if we already had 80,000 members;)

Well I help run a programming site (just forums at the moment) but we can't seem to get alot of members coming to the site. I know we could use a nice site with articles and all, that's coming though;)
