Received the following e-mail from Capcom
This email is to you inform you that you have been selected among 1,500
entries to order a copy of Steel Battalion directly from Capcom. The
selection was based on the time/date stamp on the email request we
received from you. We have allocated 7 additional units to the waiting
list from which you were selected. You must respond to this message via
email by Friday, April 18, 2003 at 5:00pm PST (Pacific Standard Time) in
order to claim your copy. If you do not respond by the deadline, your
request for a copy of Steel Battalion will no longer be valid.
Once you have confirmed your interest in purchasing a copy, we will
provide you with instructions via email on how to complete your order
for Steel Battalion.
So my question is...should I do it, or not?

KIM that a big screen TV is currently in the works with MTG.
This could potentially flummox that covert operation.

Lucid replies always welcome.
Nintendo and PS2 fanboys/girls...the exit's to the left. Watch your step!

BTW: Bonus points to whoever can name the movie the poll choices come from.

How much?

A friend of mine got it. It was pretty fun, but I would never pay full price for it.

If it's unavailable in your area, I say go for it. SB is as collectible as modern video games can get. First run (Japan) was ~15,000, second was (US) ~20,000, third ran was smaller than first two. So your looking at a worldwide pool of less than 60,000 sets.

I personally wouldn't pull the trigger for $200. Granted prices may be high on ebay, but Capcom has said they are making a sequel and (*speculation mode*) I would think they would make more controllers for it (SB2), maybe even better for Live support. You'd think they would also release SB standalone for those that only get the sequel. (*end speculation*)

I'd rather pick up a GC w/Zelda and have some change leftover than pick up SB, but that's just me.

One of my friends preordered it and is the master of it...I played it and just messed around with the joysticks and blew up stuff and he's pushing like 20 buttons at a time, its insane

Except it's Daylight savings time (PDT).

It's Daylight Saving Time Mr. Picky ;)

Okay, good call. My point is that 'Capcom' ought to be able to scrawl the appropriate initials in their 'business emails'
or it's just a sham.

While that is a pretty big chunk of cash, if you really like the game I'd go for it. Besides if you ever get bored with it, you can eBay it and get your money back plus a little more.

If I could justify paying that much for it I sure would. But you really need a large tv w/ that too, I've heard 40"+ at least.

Incredibly, I was one of the other 6 people that got chosen. Either that or Capcom made up some numbers. :D

I'm in the same boat as TG.....I'm leaning towards getting it since I read a dev. interview saying a follow-up disc would be released enabling Live support. He just wanted everyone to have the game a while to get accustomed to the game controls before unleashing us Godzilla-style on Tokyo stomping around like idiots.

i thought the controls don't have hookup for headset. so voice commands or chatting would be problematic, unless you don't care about that for live. or you a regular controller next to you just for headset.

I own it, i love it.

This game with surround sound is a godsend. I love playing this game, heres a normal afternoon playin this game for me.

Crack open a few beers and fire my VT up. Jump into a mission and get in the middle of some of the sweetest battles ive ever seen and makes you feel like you are there really controlling that giant VT mech. Your fighting 3-5 enemy VTs while sidestepping and launchin chaff to avoid mortar rounds as you hear them buzzing by your sides and smashing agaisnt the building next to you while metal is scrappin and sparks flyin everywhere. At the end you walk out of the fight while the enemy is dead and your off to the next battle right after calling in your supply chopper.

Cant say how awesome it is to be in the middle of a scene like that while your at your wits end doing all you can to take down the enemy VTs, using buildings as sheilds tryin to position yourself on the side of an enemy VT so that you use it as a sheild against the other enemys while using your shocker on the arm rippin apart your sheild at the time being.
