Just ran 3D Mark 2000 for sh!ts, and giggles (don't have 2001 installed) on my Soyo.
Here's my specs (ignore my sig, as it's out of date):
plain 1 gig T-Bird (cheap HSF, non OC'ed) 266FSB
512 Mb SDRAM
GF2 Ultra (just threw it in the other day, 21.81 drivers, since I had em already)
Iwill Side RAID card (ATA/66) w/ 2 20gig WD drives (1 ATA/66, one ATA/100)
300 watt Antec PS
I got 7777 (crazy huh? :Q). This is a really old install, and has been on for days. I did shut down all my other progs of course.
In comparison. My old rig, which was much faster, and more expensive. Got a best of 9780. This was after a day of tweaking it to the best of my abilities.
Here's the specs from that rig
Tornado 1000 w/ a 400 watt Antec
Epox 8K7A
1.2@1.4 Bird 266FSB
Thermoengine w/ a 7K rpm fan
GF2 Ultra (same one) 10.80 drivers
512 Mb Crucial ECC DDR
Adaptec 19160 U160 SCSI card w/ a Quantum Atlas V HD (U160 7200rpm)
So it's no slouch in the performance department either IMO. I'm sure w/ some tweaking, and if I tried to OC my Bird some. I could easily get that in the 8000's.
Now the real question. Which was more stable?
The Soyo, and yes I've run it w/ a Duron, and I OC'ed that same CPU (an unlocked 750) higher then my friend could w/ his Abit (8K7A maybe? I forget, but it's known as an OC'er). Not a ton more, but more. 🙂
Good luck w/ whatever mobo you choose. 🙂
