I have to get up at 2:00 for just a couple minutes, but I have to be up again at 6 to get to work (stupid retail)
I know I wont be able to fall asleep until 12:30 or 1.

The question is do I crash for a short nap and risk not waking up, or just stay up and be tired tomorow???

If you take a nap, you'll be more tired when you get up with that little amount of sleep. If you stay up, you'll be numb and detatched, but you'll do better. Just be careful not to throw off your sleeping habbits.

Are you referring to the 2am-6am slot as the short nap? That's 4 hours, for me that is much better than no sleep at all.

i interpreted it as him asking if he should take a nap, wake up at 2 to completely his task and then go back to bed or stay up until 2 to complete the task then sleep.

tracking the kid's night time blood glucose levels.

Make a nice system that does it for you, and wakes you up if there's any danger. Is your kid USB? ;)
I'd say stay up if you're a heavy sleeper, but go to bed if you can wake easily at an alarm. Is this something that you'll likely have to do every night, or a one-shot deal?

Going to have to do it until his blood sugar gets to where it needs to be. I am not that heavy of a sleeper, I have slept through my alarm more than once, but I also wake up to silly little noises sometimes.

I was referring to the 1-2 as the short nap by the way.

meh....

well I went to sleep around 12:30 or 1 and woke up at 2:30 (not so bad) to check his blood. I went right back to sleep, but somehow managed to sleep through my alarm this morning. At least I woke up for the important stuff.
