[Poll] Show or Hide your profile?

I get mad when people hide their profile, why don't you want us to know anything about you? You don't even have to put in any real information.

you do if you want to participate in the FS/T forum , well, at least you have to include a real email address, if somebody has fake name info, and i don't know them, i wonder what they have to hide (when buying or selling with them)

It only bothers me when some n00b comes in and goes

"HAY GUYS I NEED A GOOD RESTAURANT IN MY AREA"

without having their profile enabled.

Um, hi dipwad, we're smart but not psychic.

sig material, thanks

I put mine up. It's nice to at least have an idea of where the person you're talking to is and what their name is, but I don't care that much.

I hide my profile anywhere I go. But if I compromised it, you would still see nothing. My profile contains no details of me.

At this point, it doesn't make sense having my profile disabled anymore. Before, it made sense because you couldn't even know when I joined the forum. However, the Fusetalk folks decided to add more features. So now you can know when I joined even if my profile is disabled.

Sorry to disappoint you: if I enabled my profile, you would learn nothing new . . . not even my e-mail address.

I just hide my profile for privacy. I know how much you can learn from it. Now, if I did actually enter information in my profile, it would be false information. So would you really appreciate an empty profile or false information instead of a disabled profile?

you could just say "hide" and stfu instead of telling your life story... I don't think anyone was asking for your details in this thread so you aren't disappointing anyone.

"ugh...get over yourself luvly....

geez..."

GeeeeeeeZ! Get over yourself, Native Sunshine . . . Miss I'm having problems with my bf I met on a file share chatroom, so pity me, pity me that he isn't showing affections. Miss my bf won't take me for New Year's. Pity me, pity me. Miss Mods delete my original account 'cuz I was whining about my bf not taking me for New Year's and gave a bad first time impression. Miss I'm Leaving the forum twice but return twice announcing it again.

See where it takes you when you get personal? In case you don't know the rules: We're cool if you don't cross my path personally. Don't try to get personal with me, and we'll get along just fine. Getting personal is when I would have no regards any longer for someone. Just a note in case you don't know.

All of my info is in my profile, and it's correct. It doesn't really matter though. I'm only going to meet a small handful of Anandtechers in my life, and I'm sure no one really cares where I live, how old I am, what my real name is, etc.

All in all, it doesn't seem like anything to get worked up about.

For the rare times I use FS/FT I turn it on. Otherwise I don't need random jerkoffs spamming a good email address.

I show my profile and people who don't piss me off

It doesnt piss me off, but I would like to see that, if I noticed you were from New Zealand or Asia or someplace I found interesting I would want to talk to you.

I also participate on a regular basis in FS/FT and it is required, I have nothing to hide and won't waste the time to turn it off and on again all the time anyway.

As far as spamming emails from members profiles I would not suggest that, pretty fast easy way to get permanently banned from AT and get into some serious trouble with your ISP if the "victim" decides to push the issue. I know of one member who was banned recently for signing another member up for 5-6 mailing lists, and it was extremely easy to track him down.
