Poll: Should Windows 7 have it's own theme?

I don't really like the Vista theme myself so a new inspired theme would be nice for Windows 7.

Without a new theme I think people will confuse Vista and Seven.

I think the Win3.1 theme is just fine. Paying an arm and a leg for just another OS from MS with no reason to upgrade with a price inflated because they had to pay some tard to design a new interface that's more convoluded than ever? Hell no.

It's still eeeeearly beta, so who's to say that it won't have a new theme later on. I'm sure it will as it's easy to add/change and they're worried about the underpinnings right now.

That said, it's working great for me so far - a few glitches but nothing horrible yet.

Why wouldn' t it have its own. XP does not look like Windows 2000 and Vista does not look like XP.

I would be surprised if it looked like Vista when it is done.

It looks damn near the same, save for the taskbar. I like it much more than vista so far, there are all kinds of little touches.

As long as it still allows you to turn the theming off and make it look basically like Windows 2000.

It was a great day when I discovered nLite and no longer had to even install Luna on my XP machines.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing what windows 7 will be like once it's released. Vista was epic fail (ok, you have to admit, there are way more vista haters then lovers) so wonder if windows 7 will do better. I have no goals to upgrade to either vista or 7 now, but that could easily change over the next few years, that's if I don't end up going Linux.

MS is sneaky though, they pushed and pushed to get people on vista, only for a new OS to be coming out soon anyway, then they'll push for that one too. But guess business is business eh. Have to make profit, it's the whole point.

And sticking to topic of theme, I actually don't mind the vista/7 theme, though it would be nice to see something different just to avoid the confusion especially with computer newbs calling tech support. Then again, some people can't tell the difference between Dell 2000 (that's an OS?) and Windows XP, so a theme wont fix noobs.

I use Windows Classic Style on XP. I will probably do the same on Vista or Win7

As long as it works I'll be happy. I started using vista again after the recent thread about it and I think the service pack + disabling UAC pretty much fixes it. I'm cool with vista now. WTH are we upgrading already?

If you want a Theme, get a Third Party Shell replacement. MS always has been way behind Others when it came to good Themes. MS needs to make a Good Basic OS, that's it.

of course there will be a new theme, it will be one of the only things MS's adds. If it didn't have a new theme it would just be Vista 1.5.

new theme = new OS and they can charge big bucks for a.... theme!

tbh, the vast majority of vista haters are bandwagoners who have no practical experience with the OS.

some have legitimate complaints, i suppose.

btw, anyone know if litestep works on vista x64 yet?

I don't really care what ugly theme they ship with it. I'll switch it back to whatever they're calling the "Windows Classic" theme at that time. I don't need my computer to look like a child's toy.

I switched back to XP after the second time I got an unrepairable "No OS found" error with Vista. Since I was forced to format again I just went back to a more stable OS. Hopefully they've improved it since then, but I don't really miss any of Vista's new features. If they gave me something I cared about, I might be inclined to upgrade.

lol... the file copy procedures in vista was enough reason for me to switch.

I tried Vista twice too. It was fail.


I've hears Windows 7 called Vista Sp3, so no real need for a new theme, but can't really complain until they release it and I actually try it for me needs.

But I didn't enjoy the Vista theme, so hopefully it will change.

I've been forced over to OSX now so I don't even know what you guys are talking about anymore.

I still don't like OSX and have forgotten how to use Windows.

Life is so sad for me right now.

I dun really care, but considering the work done in OSX (which is like Linux) and Linux with Compiz and other software, I think Microsoft can do something.

I don't think it will. The taskbar is already quite different. I mean, Win 95,98,ME, and 2000 all looked very similar to my eyes. I'm more interested in a fast and stable OS, which Win 7 seems to be on its way to having used it for a few hours.
