do you think he could have slowed down/changed direction? or was it understandable that he slammed the cameraman?

btw the cameraman broke his nose and needed lots of stitches.

He definitely couldve slowed down or changed direction..you can even tell he sort of slows down but keeps going towards the cameraman then outstretches his arms and pushes him.

Nope. Although it looks like the player could have avoided it, the camera man is aware that things like this can happen. Plus the stadium should have some insurance for these kinds of things. The cameraman should definately not be able to sue over it.

What you said make no sense whatsoever.....

Lets say, if I'm playing golf, I know I can get hit by a ball at anytime.....but does that mean someguy can take a golf swing knowing I'm 10 feet in front of him ??? Of course not.

The key here is INTENT.....was it the player's intent to shove the camera man when he knows he could have avoided him ???
YES it was and the video proves it.

\going to the video review

After further reviewing the play...the call stands. Anyone who is about to run into someone/something would put their arms up for protection. Furthermore, the player is not looking at the cameraman on impact, but at the other player or fans in the stand.

None of you have ever seen "The Fortune Cookie", have you? Walter Matthou and Jack Leman (sp) film, their first together. Same situation.

As someone who's shot sports professionally (and almost been taken out by a Champ Car on more than one occasion) I know there is some danger invovled w/shooting sports. And in this case it's totally the players fault. If he didn't intentionally shove that camera guy I'm a purple monkey. The guy slowed down a lazy jog, shoved the camera guy, then came to a controlled stop and turned around a step later. He was probably pissed that the wide out burned him and decided to take it on the camera guy.

I remember a few years ago in Dallas a camera guy just got plowed into and ended up w/a bad cut under his eye (I think his camera got trashed too). But that wasn't clearly an accident. IIRC it was a wideout and DB streaking down the sideline and they ended up tumbling out of bounds and into the camera guy.

I have to side with the majority.

The cameraman knows he's taking risks being on the field, but in this case the player went out of his way to be violent toward the cameraman.
