Poll: Should the church allow a gay bishop?

Isn't being gay a sin in the bible? How dare they let one of Satan's followers into the church!!!

Yup. If they don't want gays, or white people, or people with green eyes to be bishops, that's their decision.

Agreed. I'm sure they will make whatever decision that they feel is appropriate for their church.

I vote "i love kobe bryant."

Edit: grammar

To be honest I really don't care. But this the freaking church. Shouldn't god or whoever it is like everyone no matter what sexual orientation they prefer? Isn't god supposed to be all forgiving and etc? To not allow gay bishop in the church would be the ultimate hypocricy.

I guess it would be okay to let murderers in too, they are god's children also, right? And child molest---oh wait..

You can't compare those 2. To kill is a sin. To be gay I don't think so.

No. How can a person be a man called by the God of the bible he carries and be gay? Then get up in ignorance and say God is doing a new thing? What new thing? Obviously he ain't reading the book.

Ummm wait.. this isn't THE CHURCH. This is the Episcopal Church. "The Church" generally refers to the Catholic Church.

I know NOTHING about the Episcopal Church but The Church doesn't allow gays to be priests. I think its somewhere in the bible that says same sex couples, marriages is not looked upon as *good* or something to that affect.

Well its really up to their own *church* group. They can say what they want. It is not The Church ala Roman Catholic Church..........

They should be able to make what ever rules they want. Its their own thing, if you don't like it TOUGH you can go somewhere else.

I cannot speak for the Episcopal church, but my understanding of the Catholic church's stance is that being gay is not a sin.

However, practicing homosexual sex is a sin.

In other words, liking men isn't a sin but doing something about it is.

As for the poll, I believe that as long as this guy can honestly lead a congregation and teach church teaching in accordance with the church's orthodoxy, then yes, he should be allowed to be a bishop. (Assuming his gay-ness is the only thing between him being a bishop and not being a bishop.)

However, that's a really big 'if' in this case. I think it's going to be a difficult thing to decide. Can the church really trust a gay bishop to lead his people in accordance with church teachings, particularly gay issues? That's a big big question.

I see no reason why not....being gay doesn't make him a paedo like many uninformed people may think.....nor does it make him some kind of sexual deviant or sex mad person....it just means that he is attracted to men.....I see nothing worse than if a bishop was straight....he would be attracted to women....

One priest may look at some (not all) men in his congregation and think "he's attractive" and the other may look at some women in his congregation and think "she's attractive" it doesn't mean they are going to harass them or anything.

I find it interesting that Episcopal church has no problem with him being a member, they probably had no problems accepting his money. Hypocracy at it's best.

Wait, if this is a religion it should have an absolute good and evil. So whatever gays fall under should be the end of it. There shouldn't need to be a discussion. (Just got done reading an illogical good/evil thread).
