The left has been after Rummy for quite some time now. They seem to think this is a good moment to pounce. Too bad for them - it's going to fail miserably again. Rummy isn't going to resign and there is no good reason for him to over this. If the abuse was widespread in every prison then I might be inclined to change that but as of now it is still relatively isolated occurances at one prison. Oh, and I'm sure the others are getting probed for "maltreatment" too and the left's knees will be twitching at any potential sign of less than perfect treatment - including the lack of a bed-time story read to each prisoner.
Anyway - Rummy won't and shouldn't resign over this IMO.
As someone who wants Kerry to win in November, I say that Rum should not resign and should not be fired. Doing so would make it look like the Bush admin is trying to "clean up" and would be a blow to Kerry's campaign.
