Not when you think of black people as the lesser human being.The notion I replied to, the notion of... "they were not taught to read, ergo they could not do anything of value"
Is a gross violation of reality. That's my hill.
My reasoning is that no one learned Blacksmithing from a book. Basic trade skills are not academia. Especially not back then. Someone who knew the labor, showed others how to do it. Simple as that. I refute that reading was relevant to the subject.
