So, uh, I get bored at work sometimes and my mind spins off in wierd little directions.....

Anyway, I've always noticed that people who preach tolerance, or the respect of everyones beliefs, are almost always very intolerant of people who are sexist, racist, or intolerant in other ways. While I do agree with them that narrow minded people like that are morons the fact that the supposedly "tolerant" people are usually the first to jump on them has always seemed somewhat contradictory to me. So.... should they practice what they preach all the way or is this acceptable?

Someone truly tolerant will tolerate intolerance.
Just like an all-powerful god can make a canyon so wide he can't jump over it

For most people who cry "intolerance," "bigotry" seems to be synonymous with "anything that I disagree with," which starts to become its own form of blind bigotry.

But murder's not really a belief. It's an action and a crime. Little different. As far as who would tolerate it, that depends on who was getting the axe I guess. If someone wacked Carrot Top would anyone really object :p

it seems counterintuitive, but the answer is generally yes. Many of the champions of tolerance are the biggest defenders of the intollerant minorities (as opposed to the majority which seldom requires champions).

but if you act our your intolerance and hurt people in the process that is an action as well... a crime well crimes are arbitrarily defined by law so that doesn't really matter.

Then tolerance comes in understanding why a person did what tjhey did, and understanding their mindset- even if it is the result of illness or misjudgement- and working to correct it, possibly.
This is not condoning murder or other crimes, but empathizing with the perpetrator.

haha, same thing.
You have to consider that the taco would not be of uniform temperature, however, particularly if microwaved.
Perhaps more appropriately:
Could jesus/god develop microwave technology so perfact as to still yield microwaved taco 'hot spots'?
:-D

Easy, NO!

People espouse "tolerance" for the purpose of eliminating other's "intolerance". It's not done just to remove "intolerance", but is targeted at certain forms of "intolerance". So, if one "tolerated" "intolerance" because they espoused "tolerance", what would be the purpose in espousing "tolerance" in the first place?
