no. It is possible for you to protect yourself. You failure to do so is no one's responsibility but your own.

Thats like saying should Ford be responsible if I leave a briefcase in my car and someone breaks through the window and steals the briefcase.
But if Ford built a car that had air bags and the air bags didn't deploy and a family member died because of it, Ford should not be responsible? Or am I SOL because I was dumb to buy a Ford?
Yes you are dumb.
Haha... so then you should be held responsible for almost getting your ass handed to you in your thread here. Why call the cops man!?
I don't know what that has anything to do with the subject but it was 1 vs. 2 ... also I was worried about them vandalizing my car.

Either way, I was civil, but you appearently are an idiot.
Why am I the idiot? You are the dumbfvck for borrowing your classmates notes and not returning them when you said you would. You should have know ahead of time that he was gonna hand your ass to you on a silver platter ahead of time.
God, you really are an idiot, aren't you? Read my fvckin thread. Had a family (health related) emergency, is that so fvckin hard to understand? You fvckin idiot. Go to hell.
Why make excuses for yourself man?

Firewalls are not always the answer. They reduce your risk, but you will be vulnerable on the ports that you leave open, like www.
No, that is the solution: do everything you can to reduce your risk, that's all you can do.

PS Her, Xiety, take it to PM's; the crap's waste high in here

You can be protected from anybody if you run a firewall with decent encryption. A router, Zone Alarm, a pop up blocker, adaware, spybot sd, and a good antivirus software is pretty much the remedy for anything 99.9999% of people can throw at you. Plus, why didnt you backup your data?

Then I'll pick up the ball.
You said you would return the notes TO HIM. You actually dropped them off with someone else. Did it ever occur to you that that action alone is the breach of trust?
Grow up.

Be advised, I'll discuss anything I want, anywhere I want, unless the MOD's say otherwise.

That's why there are firewalls products out there... Software firewalls, (some even free) hardware firewalls, etc.

Plus turn your PC off when you aren't using it.

That is not what you are asking. A better analogy would be. Assume you bought a car with a security system installed. You leave something valuable in the car assuming the security system would protect it. Someone breaks into the car, the security system does not go off and they are able to steal your valuable item.

There are two problems here:

1) The security system did not work properly.
2) You assumed everything was protected by the security system.
