Just wondering here as it seems that the general public (at least those that I speak to) are for increasing restrictions on media conglomerates owning the airwaves (Clear Channel being the most powerful). I'm not convinced that this is one of those clear cut Dems/Repub arguments where the poll will show a 50/50 split.

Yet, the latest budget plan pushed by the republicans (passed yesterday), further lessens media ownership...

So, do you support greater restrictions or less restrictions on media ownership?

I myself think their should be far more restrictions on how big these conglomerates can get. Clear Channel is an obvious monopoloy yet the Government seems to care less and seems to be helping them grow larger and more powerful.

I supoport reduced restriction provided there are no restriction on who can broardcast. I don't not support half assed deregulation that is just a gift to companys. Like the power compaines did in CA.

The specific issue I have problems with is news outlets which are owned by corporations. I think this takes away from their ability to be impartial and do their job.

A healthy Democracy requires a divergent and "Free" Press. Consolidation does not allow that.

The airwaves belong to the public and the public should be the ones speaking on them. They should be broadcasting info on how to improve your life, your neighborhood, your world and open to any citizen who wants to speak without censorship. No private ownership, no adds public financed information and education.
