I'd have to change high schools between my junior and senior year. So what are your thoughts? I really want to take this class, i mean dang they've got $30k worth of routers that i can go in and play with whenever i want. Plus when i graduate i'll be ready for the CCNA test...

So is it worth leaving my high school for this? I'd just be moving across the metroplex (DFW) to Berkner HS, but whats it like moving just before you graduate? Whos had to do that type of thing and what did you experience? I'm not big on social stuff anyway, i'm the consumate computer type (i abhor the terms geek and nerd) woh tends to spend time alone more often than going to the mall or general hanging out, but still those that I've known for all my life would be gone...granted its only 1 year before college so it not like itd be that bad i mean its onyl 1 year sooner right?

Ok enough ranting...give me your thoughts and ideas

If your social life isn't in jeopardy, then go ahead and do it. Like you said, its only for a year, and its not like your friends at your old HS are going to dissapear or anything.

i was thinking about doing this next year to improve my social standpoint and school. My school the minority is caucasion and the school poorly funded compared to others around my area. Like others said I don't think I would want to hastle making all new friends maybe if I started out this year but now its kinda difficult being a junior.

I'll be graduating from the 4th-ranked college MIS department this December and I'm taking a class where the required text is the CCNA Study Guide...

I guarantee you no high school class will fully prepare you for it... You're going to do a lot of reading and understanding on your own... However having all the equipment at your fingertips should help greatly...

Making new friends shouldn't be such a hassle.... unless you're like some a$$hole....

erub: im currently in DeSoto which is declining in its standing...

bigd: yea i know its a lot of work for myself personally but i already have the online textbook used by the instructor so i have available all the info i need, it totals over 40 chapters and is made by Cisco itself, i dont have to buy the study guide till the last semester cuz i'll only be using it to cram just before the test and i want the newest copy available.

berkner HS is very impressive, the guy teaching their cisco class is extremely smart and he keeps pushing them to do more...in fact right now they're trying to get a class setup so that when you graduate you can get your CCIE! its the best computer program I have seen or heard of in the DFW area...

CCIE when you graduate? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. IT industry professionals w/ 5-7 yrs. experience often fail the CCIE lab exam. I seriously doubt that any high school could sufficiently prepare a person for even the CCNA.

If I recall correctly there are only a couple thousand CCIE's in the world, it's the holy grail of Cisco certs.

No way in a very hot place that a HS class will prepare you for it.

yea probably not but the fact that they're pushing for something like that speaks well that they arent sitting on their butts when it comes to tech stuff...
