I've been purchasing it for the last 3 years through employer deductions and its decently high right now. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=wmt

I don't need the money or anything but it would be nice to get it out when it was high and I've been told the market is due for a correction.

If you don't need to sell it, don't. Walmart is a solid blue chip stock, and it probably good for 8 to 10% returns for the next few years.

Of course, I'm sure that some people were saying the same thing about Enron five years ago :) That's why you need to have a diversified portfolio!

If Mr. Big Biz Bush gets reelected, yes. Otherwise, no.

Edit: Whoops. reverse that.

which is exactly why you should sell most of you stock if this is the only stock you hold in your "portfolio". Your salary and job security are already highly correlated with how wallmart does, there is no reason for your savings to be the same. I would recommend selling your stock and buying a broad index fund or some other diversified fund.

Assuming you are young. I'd keep the stock for decades, and add a diverse IRA (or 401K) to your portfolio.

Retail is the only industry in america that is going to survive no matter what. That and the service industry. Hence, retail stocks will ALWAYS go up in the long term. Barring any unforseen disasters for walmart (trade embargos, sanction due to child labor/etc, labor regs), in the long run you stand to make a lot more money by holding on to the stock.

Anyone else, I'm 21 btw. My dad keeps saying there is going to be a correction soon and the market will take a big hit if there is some other terrorists attack.
