POLL: Should I get an Apple Powerbook or a new mattress?

My parents wanted to get me a Christmas/Graduation present and since there's nothing I can think of that I really want or need, I narrowed the decision to between two things: a new mattress or a laptop.
Personally, I feel I'd get more use out of the mattress, something like the Mira Loma II's they have at Costco.

However, my mom for some reason really thinks that I could use a laptop. Now, I'm definitely not arguing, but I don't think I'd use it THAT much...seeing as how I'm out of school. But the new Powerbooks are so schweeeet. 😀

I briefly considered a tabletPC or a Dell Laptop but neither of those are as appealing.

The technology and research put into a new Sealy mattress is probably greater than that put into an Apple Powerbook.

$600 PC != Powerbook.

I have an Athlon 2000XP rig right now which I'll probably sell if I get the laptop.

For the price of a 17" Powerbook, you could buy BOTH the mattress and a smaller laptop like a Dell Inspiron or an iBook. Not only would you have some money left over, but you'll also save the cash that you would need for pain killers and chiropractor bills. Trust me, after carrying around that monster laptop all day, you would need both of them!

That squid is tempting. A little batter and a deep frier, you are set for a long time, especially with $600+ in it.

The bed will last you at least 10 years, you can't say that for the PowerBook.

Definitely get the mattress.

EXCELLENT CHOICE by the way. We bought a Sealy Posturpedic Mira Loma last January for $339 after $60 off coupon.

Guess what? Costco sent out some coupon books about 2-3 weeks ago and I know there's a coupon in there for $60 off Mira Loma II, I think?

Great bed.

Sleeping well on a comfortable mattress would be better than being up all night waiting for your "Most Applications Crash. If Not, The Operating System Hangs" laptop to function correctly. 😛

Shush, you.

I think everyone is missing the obvious choice. Get the laptop as the gift, and if you need/want it drop $600 for the matress. That's a heck of a lot cheaper than getting the matress now and buying a laptop later.

Definitely the mattress. Wait six months, and if you still want the laptop buy it off Ebay for less.

But it's not my money!!!

Ok, but that laptop is still too damn big to be practical. Unless you planning on keeping it home most of the time, you should probably get something more practical. Heck, if you want a $3,500 laptop, you can get a loaded ThinkPad T30 or an Inspiron 2650 that are both smaller and will run rings around a Powerbook.

OMG dude, the choice is so obvious. Get the powerbook. Ebay the thing. Buy your mattress. Go to Vegas.
