POLL: Should I get a new Xbox360...

Here's the deal, my 360 gave me the red ring of death 2 weeks back. It is covered under warranty, but since I am moving in a few weeks I have to have it be sent back to my parents house. So for a series of reasons, I will be without my xbox for a month and I am thinking about just buying a used one from Gamestop (or maybe even a new one) and then selling mine when it comes back.

So what do you guys think? I figure a used Premium will cost me $240 plus tax and then I can sell my Core w/ Wireless Controller, HD cables, and Hard Drive. Not sure what that is worth. Any ideas?

I know I will lose some money, but if it is only $30 or $40 it's worth having my xbox for the next month.

I am a little worried about the lack of a warranty on a used one. If I got a new one I'd probably go out and get the Elite to avoid the ring of death going forward.

So what do you guys think?

If you were going to buy one, I'd spend a little more and purchase the Arcade and just put your old HDD on it.

I wouldn't buy a used 360 from Gamestop. No telling what condition it would be in.

Yep if mine fails I"m getting a new arcade and swapping hard drives, I want HDMI.

Then I'll have a backup 360.

The Arcade that my brother bought a few months ago, did not have HDMI.

Did they recently add this ?

Yes. But because the Arcade is no where near as popular as the Pro or Elite, they tend to sit on shelves longer. He probably picked up an older version.

Does it also include the design fixes that prevent the red ring of death?

Yes. Arcades are getting the Falcon chipset too. I would check the manufacture date and the build team before purchase if possible for the same reason I responded to JPB. Arcades aren't as popular so they sit on shelves longer.

Not sure what it would be worth. But don't sell it to Gamestop.

They told my brother for his Arcade, they would give him $120

Eh, maybe just reaffirm what I knew I wanted to do 🙂

I wouldnt have thought of the Arcade, so Im glad I did ask.

It's not an Arcade if it doesn't have HDMI, it's a Core.

Well, the box says Arcade on it. And it doesn't have HDMI.

I wonder how many arcades are sold that AREN'T bought to replace a broken premium..

Why else would you buy one? Circuit City only had 1 in stock. I hope it's a Falcon.

I actually managed to get a Falcon despite what that label outside said. So that makes it more worth it.
