I've been thinking about buying a Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Platinum Edition Motherboard for the last week.
I am, however, flat @ss broke.
So, the question is: do I just pull the trigger and rack up another couple of digits on the CC or not?

Man, I have absolutely no decision making capability at all.

Surely you're kidding.

Well, I suppose CC companies have to make money some how. Interest is not your friend.

Cut up your credit cards right now... you'll thank me later for it, trust me. :)

Save your money until you have to build a replacement for your current system or replace a failed part. Trust me, the way technologies change, you'll want an even newer model in a year or so because the RAM clock speeds will just keep getting faster to match the faster bus speeds.

the sooner you learn fiscal self control, the sooner you will be truly happy

don't buy it!

put your CC into a plastic baggy and put the baggy into a large container of water , then place the container into your freezer

I don't trust any motherboard that only holds one processor

:D

Did I mention this board comes with a "sigma box" that puts 2 USB 2.0 ports and a Smart Media/Compact Flash reader up front?

Oh man...the temptation is killing me.
This is worse than when I quit smoking.

I'd wait another hardware generation before buying.. I'm still happy with my Asus A7V266-E/Athlon XP 1800+ combo, and won't buy anything new for probably another 2 years or so.

I'd wait another hardware generation before buying.

I don't think that's gonna happen.:)

So far the poll is running 2 to 1 against...
kinda surprises me when you consider the coolness factor of this board.

You all know that it has AGP 8x, right?
Oh yeah....and 333mhz FSB support for the next generation of Athlons?
I mean...check out the review, man!
I may just be over estimating the number of techno freaks on AT.....

Coolness factor VS. 9-21%(Not sure what your card charges) interest hmmmm tough choice there. WHy do people buy things if they don't have the money to pay for it in cash with the exceptions of college/houses/cars

Also, RULE NUMBER 1:
If your system is stable, don't FVCK with it!

As a sidenote, there's nothing more than I want than a new PC. I have more than enough money to buy one, but investments are more important now. Save now for a good time later.

I want a gaming rig with a RAID 5 set up. I currently have an old POS AMD K6-2 400 with a 66 MHz memmory bus. Boot up and login to windows takes 5 minutes. Litterally!

But, it is stable and for the time being i can use the floppy for backups. I might actually buy the new rig when Doom 3 comes out, but even that is unlikely. For the cost of a new rig, I could buy 50 shares of Pfizer stock. Pfizer is a much better use of my money.

Pfizer is a much better use of my money.

You are absolutely correct, however, there is a problem.

In your scenario (i.e. investing my money wisely)
there is an almost complete lack of instant gratification.

Where's the fun in that?

Let me sum up my world view this way...
if my system becomes too stable, I'm slacking off.
(I'm pretty sure that my case came with sides when I bought it, but, I couldn't locate them this instant.)

I'm leaning towards jorken's suggestion...;)
