Leaded gas has a lot more octane then unleaded. That's why they used the lead; it was a cheap way to add octane.

And for those who live in areas where premium is more then 92 octane, I hate you!😛😉

so for you people that have cars that says to use premium gas, do you stick by that or do you just put regular in your tank?

no such thing, only 87, 89 and 92

sure is. Come to colorado and fill up sometime. You need to get out more.

you guys that have cars that require premium. Maybe you should go to your local municipal airport and get a few gallons of 100 Octane Low Lead. Its the blue stuff. dont get the clear stuff, thats jet fuel.

Well, I'll admit to being one of the few votes whose car does not require premium, but uses it anyway. Before I start my story, let me say I know nothing about cars except for the basic stuff.

I've had my 95 Grand Prix SE going on 5 years now. About a year after I had it, I decided to start putting in premium. I continued to fill with premium for well over a year straight, and to me, the car drove a little smoother and was a bit quieter within a couple of months of starting filling with premium. Some of you will dispute me on this, but I don't care. Just over the past couple of months, I've started filling with premium again, as a gas station nearby offers premium for only 10 cents a gallon over the regular all the time. Once again, I feel as if my engine is a little smoother now.

It's always been my impression that premium gasoline was higher because of the higher filtration used to make a basically cleaner gas than regular can give you. Therefore, it's burns cleaner in your engine, which can only be a good thing.
lol... 🙁

Stories like these make baby Jesus cry.

Look up the Placebo effect. 😉

why in the world do they sell only 85 regular in colorado? (got back from breckenridge less than a month ago, lots of subbies up there too)

Your vision is indeed blurred 🙂

The only time it makes sense to over-gas your engine is if you've got issues like carbon buildup in your engine and an engine that used to run fine on 87 now knocks a bit. So, some people instead of dealing with the problem directly, will put a higher grade gas in - but this is only because their car isn't running at 100%.

Anybody else is throwing money in the pooper.
