[Poll/Rant] How much time do you spend with your SO every day?

[partial rant / question ]

I ask this question since my roommate and his bitch of a girlfriend are constantly together. They've been going out for more than a year and a half and they still are together at least 5 hours a day. If they aren't, she whines like a goddamn five year old and says she doesn't see him enough. So how much time do you spend with your SO every day? This does not apply to married people and I would actually prefer responses from college-aged people since the couple is 19 and 20 years old.

Also, do you talk like idiots to each other? Here's an example conversation between them :

Her : "I's gotta go potty" (in like a 10 year old voice)
Him : "I's not ready to go downstairs yet"
Her : "Wahhhhhhhh" ( she serious whines like a 5 year old throwing a goddamn tantrum and screams at the top of her lungs )
Him : "Fine."
Her : "You don't want to take me. (big pouty face)"
Him : "Aww, you want some snuggles?"

I swear to God, every time they say "I's" or something stupid like that, I want to beat their asses into the mental state of the voice they're immitating. WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TWENTY AND TALKING LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD?! NOBODY SHOULD BE TALKING LIKE THIS, EVER!! Normal people don't do this, correct? I just want to be clear on that.

My fiancee and I don't even spend every day together. I see her, on average, about 2 hours a day. If she started talking in that baby voice to me, I think I would smack her upside the head. A successful relationship means knowing you can be apart from each other. You have to have your own life, and she her's.

Next time they do that stupid five year old stuff, you need to hit them both in the face with a lamp. That's annoying.

On an unrelated note, I should buy a Christie jersey for my friend Christie. She won't get the reference, but that's probably good.

You're shmoopy!
No you're shmoopy!

Aaaggghh!!!1 The one episode I cannot watch all the way through. :D When they get to "baby bluey", I just can't take it. Too saccharine!!

dear lord no. That describes his situation exactly pretty much. He doesn't hang out with anybody except her anymore. I don't really count since we live in the same room and rarely go out anyways. But his lack of a social life aside from her also hurts me since it's like I'm living with deadweight that doesn't bother to do anything. He doesn't get that nobody likes his girlfriend. Hopefully something awful happens in the relationship before they attempt to get married.

Any man who says "Aww, you want some snuggles?" needs to be beaten with a baseball bat, then have his testicles surgically removed and given to someone in need.

I think this thread just coined a new phrase:

SO = Significant Other (somebody who provides meaning and fun to your life)
ISO - InSignificant Other (somebody who is good for just s3x or is a PITA and just waiting to be dumped.. lol)

If I have a room mate who's like his, I would have pump lead into that couple.

The mere sight/sound of people engaging in such behavior makes me want to vomit.

Jealous?! I wouldn't touch the whore with a ten foot pole, let alone her personality drives me up the wall. My roommate has officially lost his man card IMHO since he doesn't do anything but cater to her wishes. She commands the entire relationship. He thinks I joke when I ask him how it feels to be the woman in the relationship.

To those people who replied 4-5 or 5+ hours, how do you have a life outside of that person if you essentially hang out with them all day. Unless you don't have a job or don't attend school, I'm not sure how 4-5 hours a day would allow you any time alone. Do you consider yourself whipped? If not, you should. If you reply "but I want to be with her all the time", then you've got bigger issues.

I had a relationship like this my senior year of high school; school from 6:30AM to 2:30PM, work from 3 to 8:30PM, her place from 9PM to 11PM. She rarely came over to my house. It was unhealthy then, and I still think it's unhealthy.

my sister (23) and her bf (26) have been together for umm... almost 6 years now.. They spend almost every non working moment together and always have accept for the time when they broke up for 2 months. When they arent working, or at school they are at the firehouse hanging out with each other (both of them are volunteer firefighters). She gets home at 1am and is up at 5am and shes been doing that since she graduated hs.

PS. I dont like my sisters boyfriend. He hasnt taken anytime to get to know our family in the 6 years they've been dating.

PPS. Who cares if they get on your nerves as long as they enjoy each others company then all the better to them, since no one is getting "hurt" in the process.

Right ;) I think your girlfriend is the exact opposite of the one I'm speaking of in practically every way. Somehow I don't think I need to worry about you ever saying the word 'snuggles'.

You know your friend is a pretty skewed example.

Some of us can spend five hours a day with our woman and have fun. I am sorry that you have no social life - get over it.

You asked if some people consider themselves whipped to spend so much time with their SO.

I have to ask you - do you feel like a loser with your admitted lack of social life?

BTW My woman and I live together thought you should know that way when you try to talk more sh!t I wont have to correct you.

Do you think their behavior is healthy?

I don't think I would have so much of a problem with their behavior if they weren't acting as childish as they were. Hopefully your sister and her boyfriend, being well into their twenties, act like adults and are much more tolerable to be around. If not, we can start a support group and scheme to fix things ;)
