this post got me thinking of it. Ramen Thread

When you make ramen noodles do you leave the water in and eat it as a soup or do you pour out the water and eat just the noodles?

What I do to make it is boil the water then add the noodles till they are done. pour out most of the water. Add flavoring then cook it till the rest of the water evaporates. I don't like soups much. I just wanna know if im the only person.

My roomate actually doublely boils the water, boils the noodles pours the water out adds new water. So it doesn't keep the preservatives or something on them.

I eat the noodles dry and then drink a glass of water mixed with the seasoning packet. ;)

Kinda half half. I cook em in a pot until the water's absorbed into the noodle. Don't use much water if you want to try though, or your noodles will be half an inch thick each :)

Without. Much tastier if the noodles aren't all soggy from the juice. Which I might add makes a tasty drink as well. For us salt addicts anyway.

I cook the Ramen according to instructions, with a bit less water. I dump the whole mess in a large bowl and add a handful of sliced green onions, 2 sliced hard boiled eggs, some diced beef, chicken or pork, some soy sauce and a couple of dashes of Tobasco. Enjoy.

but i guess its cuz they cost about 50cents a serving :) normal ramen tastes a bit cruddy compared.

with soup of course!

OMG I have a whole case of those in the kitchen

Lately I've been eating it without soup. I mix in some oyster sauce, sesame oil, and dried red pepper, and I drink the soup in a seperate bowl

Why restrict yourself to one type of ramen!?

Wet/dry/semi-wet, thats three different dishes in one! :D

I do with your roomate does.

But sometimes when I feel like eating crackers but don't have any, I crush it and it straight out the bag. I don't use the seasoning packet though.

The proper way is to actually dump out the water you cooked with and replace it with new water... that's because the noodles are coated in rice flour to preserve them, and that goes into the water. Try replacing the water with new water once the noodles are cooked, and you'll see it tastes better.

I do the same thing now. Someone in my dorm prepared ramen this way and it was so much better than how I usually cooked it. It's good to have one of those water heaters. :)

I did that when I was in elementary school. Young and stupid. Now I don't even take it out of the wrapper.
