Saw there was a thread about a month ago but there was no poll! ;)

Soo..boys and girls, is it worth it?

Depends. I find it does bead up the water on your windows, but when it is real hot out, it leaves behind water spots.

I like it. It's especially nice when you're on the highway in a downpour; the beading action makes it a LOT easier to see.

I was curious to long-term effects and/or overuse of Rain-X and if it could leave a haze on the glass over time.

Not much of a need for it here in AZ. For the three times a month it rains, it isn't worth it.

I use the stuff that you add to the windshield wiper fluid. Works great!

I'd imagine a little acetone and a rag would take care of that.

In very heavy downpours, like others have said, I find myself not using my wipers much.

There's also an unadvertised bonus to Rain-X.

It makes getting frost off your windows MUCH easier. This week we had a couple days with 0°F mornings, I'd go out, brush off the windows with my snow brush, and have clean windows with no scraping. It works best when it's fresh though, I put mine on 2 weeks ago and this morning I had to scrape (I did wash my car yesterday though)

Hahaha so true. While coming home on the thruway a year ago during a heavy rain, I could see the people in the cars next to me look at me like I'm some sort of nutjob.

RainX isn't that good. Works great at high speed, but drop down to 40mph, and water won't slide off very well and you have to use wipers, which means the RainX is being wipd away. That's why the kind you put in your washer fluid is best.
