I've had the original since a little after it came out. I started playing it and stopped because I wasn't sure if I even liked it. Tried it some time later and stopped again.

I'm really liking what I'm seeing of Clear Sky...after all it IS a prequel...so I was just wondering whether or not it mattered which one I play first?

If it does matter, which one should I play first to give me the best experience??

What is your recommendation?

Did you like the first one? You said you stopped playing it, then started again, but didn't mention if you liked it. If the first one wasn't enough to keep you playing then the second won't either. For me, I played through the first one several times and really liked the blend of FPS/RPG. Clear Sky was equally as good although a little short.

I would say go back and play the first one again. If you like it, go buy Clear Sky. If not, then don't waste your money.

Thanks. I think I'll run through the first one first then :D
Maybe playing Clear Sky will be the incentive for me to finish the first one.

I liked the game but at the time, I just wasn't in the mood for mutant dogs I suppose

If you're talking about immediately, Shadow of Chenobyl first, absolutely. Clear Sky isn't stable yet.
Probably play through SoC, beat it, download one of the AMK based mods like AMK or Oblivion Lost, beat it again. By then, CS may be playable.

Okay. Maybe I'll try that too. I'll be starting the original today. :D

How much reading is in clear sky? One of the things that turned me off was the constant reading of dialog in the first game. I want voice-over acting. :)

How's your Russian?

There is a still quite a bit of captioning. I'm not sympathetic to your issue though, as I downloaded the all Russian voices and used ONLY the subtitling. ;-] Did the same with the Witcher, in Polish.

For the OP, I agree that the SOC is much more stable, and with one of the AMK or Oblivion Lost mods, you will get some similar functionality to Clear Sky's additions. I can't actually bring myself to play vanilla SOC anymore.

Too many useful additions in Clear Sky. It's be hard to take that backwards step if you started on CS.

Ya I noticed that in my reading.

I've decided to restart SOC...AGAIN!!!....before I play Clear Sky. I hope I finish it this time. I'm not bitchin' or anything but some parts really freak me out, LOL.
