Not married yet, but we've already discussed it. I told the fiancee I don't mind if she wants to hang on to her last name or use both, but she declined.

i havent 'legally' changed my last name. But I do use my husbands last name for non important signature type stuff. I'll change it eventually.. just not in the next few years.

She just added my last name onto her name. She goes by (her first name)(my last name), but her legal name is (first name)(middle name)(her last name)(my last name). They hyphenation thing is just too cumbersome.

That's probably the direction we are going to go in.

Well, if you and your wife are Asian (and I only am aware of this because of Korean friends that I've had) that the woman keeps her name...it doesn't change. (That's usually if they are from Korea).

But heck, let the woman change her name if she wants.

My wife's maiden name was a little bit funny. She got teased throughout school, and questioned everytime she used it even as an adult. Thus she was quite glad to get rid of it. She dropped her last name and replaced it with my last name.

I can fully understand keeping your name and I can understand changing it for tradition. I just have never heard a good reason to use both with a hyphen.

my financee is going to take my last name and make her madien name a second middle name. She'll still sign "First Name" "Last Name".

My fiancee is taking my last name, dropping her middle name, and having her maiden name as her new middle name.

What are you talking about? Never heard of that. Asians rarely change name after marriage anyway.

not married, but I wouldn't expect my spouse to take my name. that aspect of marriage always seemed really sexist to me.

Getting married in October. We've talked about it and she will be taking my name. Her name's hard to spell & pronounce anyway (it's French-Canadian). :p

My fiancee's last name and mine sound similar, so if she hyphenated it, it would sound ridiculous. I think she'll either just keep hers entirely or take mine... I'm hoping for the latter but I'm not forcing her. She claims Lee is too common. I have no idea what she's talking about.
