POLL - Problems with 6800 series cards

There have been a lot of people asking about which manufacturer they should go with, and no one really seems to have a conclusive answer. I think the best way to route out the inferior brands would be to list those with the most problems.

There are two polls to make this more effective:

What brand 6800 series card have you had issues with?

The idea of this poll is for only people who have had problems with their 6800 series video card to be able to chime in and "vote' on the brand they have had problems with. Please vote only if you have one of these cards and have had hardware problems at the stock settings. This would include overheating and/or required RMA, but not user error, software issues, or OCing problems.

What brand 6800 series do you have?

Anyone with a 6800 series card should answer this. We need to know what people own. This should help add meaning to the first poll, since if no one owns say an AOpen card, then there would be 0 failures. If this were the case, obvioulsy, it wouldn't be accurate to say that AOpen cards have the best cards.

I have an eVGA 6800GT which will run 400/1.1 no problem, but which I run at stock speeds because that is plenty fast. No problems with the card so far.

Need to add Gainward to the list.

I've had no issues with my Asus V9999GE, just sold it today though. For the 28 days I had it, the card was flawless.

I have a gainward 6800, so I didn't vote. The stock cooler (dual Slot) is very good, but loud. I understand that their latest expert utility has a fan throttle, but I have not tried it because I just switched over to water cooling. The gainward is a good card, and with gainwards utility clocks at 350/800 default.

I'm very happy with it, and I have not had any 2d analog issues like I did with the evga card.

i have an eVGA 6800NU. best choice IMO, who doesnt love a free farcry or doom3? anyway, it runs 420,790 max, no probs. it needs an extra tenth of a volt or two. my friend is getting one too, if he has any problems with that one, ill post.

I just wanted to put a note in this thread that, given the small number of people who actually own 6800-class video cards here, any results you get are going to be pretty much useless. For products that rarely fail (like most computer hardware), you need a very large sample size before you can get accurate reliability data.

ditto ... it's a sweet card. only downside is nothing bundled. i'd get the evga for the free far cry.

PNY 6800gt OC to ultra with stock cooling....No problems at all in about a month, and about 2-5 hours of gaming a day.

OMG?! I better not get an Asus 6800 because that fan might go out :Q.

Yeah not sure exactly what this has to do with the thread... how old is the Ti 4200 now anyways? 3 years?

need results buttons for both, im interested in the results.

There is a results button built in... There has been since they did the upgrade why does everyone always ask this? It says "View Results" you even have the option of going back and then voting too.

I have no real outstanding issues with my eVGA 6800 other than the complete lack of driver support for the Programmable Video Processor, and poor 1080i support for my HTPC. I know the PVP suport is definately not brand specific, and I doubt the 1080i support is also. I voted I had issues with my eVGA, but it is more 6800 general issues.

So far, I need to subtract one point from Asus for the problems and ownership, since it't a Ti4200, and one from eVGA for problems as well because lack of features has absolutely nothing to do with hardware problems.
