Thinking of moving, and most places we are considering either have brutally hot summers (AZ) or brutally cold winters (MN).

Given the choice, which would you prefer?

I am DELIBERATELY not putting a third option for neither/live in a more temperate area......these are the two choices :D

I prefer a mild climate all year, but I HATE it when it's so hot you can't even go outside. At least when it's cold you can bundle up!

Hot summers suck... gotta take 2 or 3 showers a day because of humidity.

I prefer Cold winters/mild summers, but I live in Southern Louisiana. So I get a short mild winter followed by a long, humid summer. :(

I really need to move, but I'm lazy...

I'll take hot summer over cold winter anytime. I hate being bundled indoors because of cold weather. Plus nothing beats the beach and hot women half-naked:D

Being a Yankee by birth, then moving to FL and now TX has "thinned my blood". No cold for me anymore!

Lets say 70°F is a comfortable temperature - roughly room temperature. I'd much, much rather have a winter be 40°F colder than that comfort level (30°F) than have a summer 40°F hotter than that comfort level (110°F). And I bet most people would agree with that statement.

So actually you are comparing a really cold temperature (MN) to a moderately hot temperature (AZ). I'd still say I'd rather have the cold winter. When it is bitterly cold, you are miserable for the 30 seconds it takes to walk to/from your car, but for the rest of the day you are just fine. When it is sweltering hot and get into your car you sweat. Thus for the rest of the day you are damp, smelly, and fell awful. Hmm 30 seconds of agony or 8 hours. I'll choose the 30 seconds any time.

There are swimming pools (indoors and outdoors) that you can see that at any location hot or cold. PLus what happens when those things get cold? Sometimes that is nice to see too.

You never got into a car that was sitting in the sun and well above 120°F? Or are you one of those people with a genetic disorder that doesn't sweat?

You should know better, you live in Texas. Beautiful women in bikinis are in California and Florida.

Cold winter

In my experience, you can ALWAYS get warm when it's cold, but you can NEVER get cool when it's hot.

Neither.

My ideal year would be five months of mild spring, one month of hot summer, five months of mild fall, and one month of cold winter...

Much prefer the cold over the heat. I can deal with -20F much more easily than I can deal with 115F, and yes I have experienced both. Vermont was at -20F when I was there snowboarding. Phoenix was at 115F when I was there visiting family.

I'd prefer hot summers over coooold winters. I dont' like being bundled up and feeling cold.

Although TOO hot summers might be problem....I'd rather be taking 3 showers a day than shivering in my bed every night.
