Some people enjoy museums, collect old coins and all these old things.

I remember when OS/2 warp 3 was released. I thought uncle Bill was in a deep trouble and your Windows 95, a perfect disaster. Well, things changed and OS/2 is almost forgotten.

Today, Linux is the only system who threaten M$ plans for the home user.

But, I belive that still exist some people (the same kind people who enjoy museums) who have OS/2 installed. Or, at least, knows who uses it...

As much as I love OS/2 I no longer use it. I had used OS/2 from the 2.0 Beta days (Pre-Workplace Shell) when the Presentation Manager still ruled. I was a member of TEAM OS/2 and helped out with numerous Fall Comdex's as well as providing Demos at Computer Stores and Users Groups. I was one of the highly fanatical. Met David Barnes and some of the original programmers of the Kernel. A couple phone Calls with Mr. Seymour (anyone remember him?) and others highly placed within the organization at the time. Hailed Warp 3 and Loved Warp 4. Still think 2.11 was the most stable release. Big supporter of OS/2 ISV's (I think I spent many a thousands buying software to help them out). Then IBM sh!t all over us and dropped multimedia support and that started the spiral down. Now I run Linux primarily. Oct 1996 was the end of OS/2's heyday and Jan 1997 was the beginning of the death knell for the OS. If it were updated and drivers for new hardware written I would give it another shot. The interface is still the best and most advanced on the market but the technology behind the OS is now out of date. The OS is to this day the ONLY one with a truly object oriented interface.

Now, may we all take a moment of silence for (IMO) the best OS there ever was.

I have OS/2 installed, but haven't booted it in over a year probably. I ran a multinode BBS using OS/2 for awhile, and OS/2 was much kinder to me than Win 3.11/95/NT.

Eventually, I was forced to stop using it due to lack of support from IBM and the rest of the world. Nowadays, I use Linux (quite happily).

I don't run it but I just saw a computer through a dorm window as I was walking across campus to work that was booted into OS/2 Warp 4. I remember when I helped migrate a BBS to OS/2 warp 3, those were the days.

I remember reading that a lot of restaurants still use OS/2 in conjunction with a touch screen monitor for their food order management systems. There are at least a number of restaurants in the Chicago area that still use it (e.g. Denny's).

When I was testing out old systems at work to see which ones still worked, I came across an OS/2 system. I played around with it a little, but then the computer crashed. Oh well:(
