This purpose of this isn't to start a flame war. (although by human nature it probably will) :disgust:

In our lifetime say over the next fifty years or so. Some would say its inevitable. Some say never; while others say in four years. (Hillary's in the senate for those living under a rock :p)

What do you think?

Cheers!

Yes. Sarah is going to be president, & I am going to have a blast harrassing the Secret Service agents assigned to keep my ass alive.

I mean what are they going to do, kick me out of the White House?

:D

It'll happen sooner or later

Another question would be what will happen first, a black president or woman president?

I think as American "melts" a little more, it will be easier for a non white, non male, non christian to become president. I don't think hilary has a shot in 2004, but we'll have to wait and see.

What are they going to call the husband of the female president?
The first man?
The first gentleman?

Sounds awkward.

anyone remember that skit from the man show, about the female president? LOL, "In headlines President XXXX has declared war on Canada again, for the 14th straight month. She was quoted as saying 'No one here appriciates anyhting I do here!'"

DISCLAIMER: I was just quoting something, dont flame me =].

The question is a bit wrong, we have had a Woman president here in Iceland so I could technicly say yes to the poll.

I think it will happen sooner than people think, probably within the next 20 years. It will be good for the US, you know, shake things up a little.

How about a black, female president?

I wonder which will happen first a white woman as president or a black (or other minority) man as president. Powell as Sect of State is essentially president of foreign policy, as he dictates foreign policy, not Bush. That's a step in the right direction.

<< How about a black, female president? >>

that would be really cool. that would help put the WASP Old Boys' Club in the coffin.

I believe we will have one soon, very soon. Hillary Clinton would be my pick and I would vote for her.

Yes, that will definitely happen, and as for the first African-American president, first female president, or how about first Asian-American president who will be first? I think the African-American and female president will happen at around the same time frame, give or take two offices. Whichever side produces a viable candidate first will get to office first.

Anyway, I think that office has lost its glamour, so qualified people are probably working in some other area making 10x the amount of money. Looking at the current president, I think there are females and African-Americans out there more than qualified to hold office.

You guys think the vice-presidency will have the first African-American or female president before the presidential office?

There aren't that many women dumb enough to want the job (or blacks for that matter). You really have to be a thick skinned / thick headed individual to want to be president. Why do you think Colin Powell didn't run? He knows where the real decisions are made in this country.

BTW, with all of the vandalism & $600,000 high-rise offices that the Clintons have left us taxpayers with, I don't see Hillary standing a chance in 2004.

You must be greedy and corruptable to attain the office of president today. Women can be both. So, yes, the US will see a female president. Within 50 years? Sure why not? :)

airfoil, sure if what went down in NY is an example. If she's properly managed and faces a weak opponent, she could very well ascend the Throne. This is true of any candidate today. Today we have such a limited choice of presidential candidates thanks to the D and R parties...the scenario is possible.

However, if Hillary wants the Throne she probably should have attempted a governorship rather than a senate seat -- historically, senators do not get elected as president, governers do. Some nonsense about governors actually having the proper experience or somesuch.

If it were a decent Libertarian woman I would vote for her. If it is a bitter angry feminist socialist like Hillary Clinton then no!

I have no clue why any democrat would want Hillary to run she has so many negatives. It would be like Newt Gringrich running, there is no Republican who wants that.

jacobnero6918, if by "decent" you mean credible, trustworhty and qualified I'm with you. Electing a female to be president simply because it would be cool to do so isn't right.

as long as we get Bush out.. but more on the topic, I would fully support a woman president. I have a lot of respect for Hillary.

addition:
If we have a female president then will her husband be the first "first gentleman"? Interesting.
