Wolfenstein. Mainly because I like games where you get to use actual guns and shoot actual dudes...not aliens with lasers.

I didn't play the Wolf until after I had played Doom2. So no way could I pick Wolf.

I loved Doom2!

I played it all the way to the end, but couldn't kill the damn Boss! :| I couldn't figure out you had to shoot a rocket while going up that elevator.

So I went and looked in the Cheat book and learned all the goodies like IDKFA, IDDQD, IDCLOAK...etc.

I picked Doom. Let me tell you why...

It's a more diverse and complex game. Surely one must give mad props to Wolfenstein and all the other early raycasters, but Doom was truly a revolution in the gaming industry (Wolfenstein was simply an omen). Fun as Wolf was, Doom had environment, dark pulsing areas, appropriate music, interesting variety of baddies, and lest we forget, network play? The word "deathmatch" didn't exist before Doom.

well, lets give credit to Wolfenstein for being the first of it's kind (i think, can't remember if anything came earlier). boy did i love that game. then doom came along, and i loved it even more. so i'd say doom as well.

That was the second secret level of Doom 2. Map 34 I think. Its the end of Wolfenstien 3D's episode 1, the level where you fight Hans Grosse. Except the Doom 2 version had a Cyberdemon instead :D

<< I never understood why Hitler wasn't the last boss in Wolf3d. >>

Easy. The first 3 episodes are the original game. The story "ends" there. The last 3 episodes are a prequel of sorts. The storyline is completley different, as it deals with a chemical war instead of killing Hitler (which is why in episode 4 you fight the scientist who made them, episode 5 you get the maps to the base holding the weapons, and episode 6 you kill the leader of the operation). So the second trilogy is really just a bonus hard set of missions, and the story ends with episode 3 (see the first trilogy's story is episode 1 you are captured trying to find out about the mutants being created, episode 2 is you kill the Dr. who created them, and the 3rd is killing Hitler himself).

BTW, anyone who likes any game more than another because of the graphics isn't a gamer. That is the stupidest reason ever.

Killbat pretty much sums up my feelings. Wolf3D was fing awesome, but the Doom series just had something about it... something that I cant put a finger on that is just unbelievable. I feel sorry for id for having to make another. I can't see how they are going to be able to even match the goodness of the previous two.
