do you remember, when completing the first episode, and killed the boss, you saw captain keen hung on a pole or something...
or did I just dream this?? >>
That was the second secret level of Doom 2. Map 34 I think. Its the end of Wolfenstien 3D's episode 1, the level where you fight Hans Grosse. Except the Doom 2 version had a Cyberdemon instead

I never understood why Hitler wasn't the last boss in Wolf3d. >>
Easy. The first 3 episodes are the original game. The story "ends" there. The last 3 episodes are a prequel of sorts. The storyline is completley different, as it deals with a chemical war instead of killing Hitler (which is why in episode 4 you fight the scientist who made them, episode 5 you get the maps to the base holding the weapons, and episode 6 you kill the leader of the operation). So the second trilogy is really just a bonus hard set of missions, and the story ends with episode 3 (see the first trilogy's story is episode 1 you are captured trying to find out about the mutants being created, episode 2 is you kill the Dr. who created them, and the 3rd is killing Hitler himself).
BTW, anyone who likes any game more than another because of the graphics isn't a gamer. That is the stupidest reason ever.
Killbat pretty much sums up my feelings. Wolf3D was fing awesome, but the Doom series just had something about it... something that I cant put a finger on that is just unbelievable. I feel sorry for id for having to make another. I can't see how they are going to be able to even match the goodness of the previous two.
