I believe Joaquin Phoenix should have gotten the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, his perfomance was great! Much better than Benicio Del Toro's performance. Anyone else think so? VOTE please!

i dont think so. He is overrated, imho. If you watch Glatiator, Russell Crowe puts him to shame. Just look when Maximus' family is killed, he cried, and those looked like real tears. When Caesar cries, it just isnt the same.

Boy, I could not disagree more. I thought his performance was rather stilted and unnatural, and, well, acted. I thought Del Toro was much more believable.

I do think Joaquin Phoenix is generally not bad, and certainly not a generically handsome young actor, which at least sets him apart.

acting was ok, character portrayed a shifty evil unbalanced character. The kind of guy you love to hate; however, acting was not award caliber!
