This is my first attempt at a poll, so bear with me. Here's what I'm doing. With all the talk, Pro and Con, it seems as if only the problems tend to surface, so anyone who owns or uses the IWill KK-266 mobo, please rate your experience with it on a 1-10 scale.

Please, no KA-266's or KK-266r's
Strictly KK-266

Well.. I just got my yesterday. It is fast and seems very stable. I have not done any O/C'ing yet. I get one error that has somehthing to do with one driver, but that's probably becuase I didn't do a fresh install after putting in pretty much all new hardware. Only thing that was the same is the modem, hard drives and CD-roms. MB, CPU, and Video were all new... everything that relied heavily on drivers.

So, so far, so good!!!

I'd give it an 8/10. I'll give it a higher score once I can kick my processor into 133FSB overdrive....

FYI: Processor Temp = 46C according to Via Hardware Monitor.

The only problem with (some) KK266 boards is the multiplier issue.. If you happen to get one with the multiplier problem, just RMA it. They'll send you a brand new one without the problem.

IF there really is a muliplier issue. Has anyone who really (1)reset their bios to default processor multiplier setting (auto), (2)the 100/133 jumper to 100, (3)reset bios settings to failsafe default, (4)rebooted, (5)rebooted and then flashed from a floppy, had this problem?

I'm relatively new to the KK-266, but it seems as smooth as silk, and very stable. First I verified that it would boot with a Duron 600 @7x133, flashed the latest bios as above, cranked 'er back up to 933, set the CAS latency to 2, Interleave to 4, and then installed W98. Rock stable. Not a hitch. No benches, but my impression is that it beats a PIII 650 @866 with the same memory, and same HDD (except at ATA 66 vs. 100) by a good bit in everyday operations. I'm impressed.

I have a rev 1.1...runs my factory unlocked 1.2 Tbird @ 1385 - 163 X 8.5.

I've built any number of systems, many ran @ 100 fsb for others & this is as stable as any I ever built or hope to in the future.

On board sound is all right too...sure beats the heck outa' having to mess with SB conflicts. :D

Well this is my first Iwill KK266-R motherboard and I was a little worried, first seeing the great reviews then the problems some people were having. Anyway I made the plunge and ordered the motherboard 2 weeks ago and finally put it all together this week. I installed Windows 98 (first edition) and it went flawless, updated all the security fixes and other updates without a problem so far. My version of the motherboard is 1.1 and I do not intend to overclock (right now anyway), I wanted a stable motherboard/System more than anything right now. I do not have any games on yet nor have I ran any "burn-in" programs so if you have any sugestions on this it will be a great help. My cpu temp by VIA hardware monitor says 87f. is this normal or not? I would right now vote highly for this board.

I had a bloody nightmare trying to set up a KT7 and finally gave up and went out a bought a KK266. Set up was a breeze, easiest I ever had. No IRQ or driver probs at all. This mobo makes the KT7 look like a prototype wannabe. The board is stable as a P2B (my old time fav). No hassle. I'd recommend this board to anywone. I have not oc'd it yet, but as it sits this is a board for everyone. According to the included software she is running at 28 C idle and around 38 to 42 on load.
Here's my sys:
KK266
256 Mosel Cas 2
AMD 1 GHz TB
Maxtor 30 GHz
WinFast Geforce 2 GTS 64 DDR
Aureal Vortex 2
Memorex 48x
Ricoh CD RW
Plextor scanner
Epson 750 usb
250 Zip
Sidewinder precision 2 usb
:)

I had the cold booting problems (TBird 800@ 140x7). Decided to connect all L7 bridges and haven't had a problem since and I have really pounded this board with everything for over 2 weeks.

Some of the rev 2 boards apparently had problems...interested to see if your opinions have changed b-cuz of it. Sounds like it's almost flawless now, but want to find out for sure.

Now my opinion may not count for much seeing as how I just got this board today but....

So far this board is a tank compared to my KT7-RAID. :) I just ordered the board from newegg.com last weekend and it does not have the multiplier issue. With some Corsair CL2 PC150 RAM I've pushed the FSB up to 161Mhz (just AGP and NIC in slots). In Q3 it's totally stable but 3dmark 2001 has issues...I'll back off until I can get 3dmark to run fully, but other than when I tried to go to 162Mhz FSB this board hasn't crashed yet and I'm definitely stressing it a good deal. My KT7-RAID wasn't this stable.

So far I'd have to give it a 10...Setup was a breeze, the board layout is great just like the KT7 series, it wasn't too expensive ($125), having hardware sound is nice even though I'm going to try and toss in my SBLive once I settle in on a good FSB. So far this is probably my favorite board up there with my old BX6-R2 which I still run my old C300@450 24/7. :)

A co-worker asked me to upgrade his dell demension 400r. A kk266 fit perfectly into the case. A retail box 1200 with stock fan is running rock solid @1400.The huge dell case fan that sits next to the proccessor socket is helping to keep the 'bird chilly. New 300w p/s and kept the 256mb pc100.
Ran it for 3 days before handing it back, never crashed once.

Anyway, the kk266 rocks. I give it a 10 with a slight demerit for the 133jumper prob which isnt such a big prob anymore.
