POLL: PocketPC Platform versus PalmPowered

Dunno if it's been posted before, probably has, but I couldn't find it. Which do you prefer? Palm or PocketPC? I have an ipaq 2210. HP was supposed to release windows mobile 2003 second edition for us so that we'd get builtin landscaping as an option, but they decided to be greedy. Now I'm eyeing the Tungsten T3 that my friend just got, I really like it, and their screens seem to be higher in resolution.

i'd say that this will be skewed a bit. most members here are PC-power users. PPC seems to be more advanced than the Palm OS, but i still don't think that PPC can match Palm's simplicity.

i have a PocketPC with PocketInformant. i've been using PI since it first came out (when it was just a weekly view app), and while it's very powerful, it still can't match Palm's ease of use and intuitiveness.

so, my wishy-washy answer is that it depends 🙂

That's how I feel. I love PI, but I love palm's simplicity and how it looks now.

Having used both platforms, I have to go with the PocketPC, it is just simply way more versitile.

Especially when I can use it to play Ages of Empires in classs when I have nothing else to do. 😉

Palm is better in the end. You can certainly do a lot more with PPCs in the end, and they have better hardware etc...

But its a PDA, not a computer. Palms are better as PDAs.

this is more like a popularity contest. And PPC is more popular.

What about those who have never used both ?

Try running your widescreen diVx pron on the palm platform; it simply cannot compare.
My encoded divx/xvid movies play great on my palmOS Treo. What's the difference ?

ask this question 3 years ago, it would be 0 for ppc. that was the time when I entered the palm world. I will stick with my palmpowered sony clie. my th55 do what I need. the clie organizer is amazing, I use the freenote to take quick notes the most.

my pda will run mp3 for 24 hours. well, I don't listen to mp3, but I can go on without a single charge for 2 weeks or more.

do you have the new Treo 650?

i wish someone would make a PPC smartphone as sleek as the Treo. i've been thinking about going back to Palm just because of the Treo600/650

No, I have the slower processor Treo 600... and that's playing my movies just fine too. The T650 is unreal with even better resolution and bigger screen... go for it.
