Hi everyone,

The more I read about the KT7-RAID the more I am confused and undecided to buy this MOBO due to many problems posting in different discussion groups and negative feedback from other users; Abit doesn't have a good service and update frequently the driver in comparison to Asus. However KT7-RAID has feature that A7V doesn't have such as RAID capability (it is important for video editing, I've heard), 3 phase power... What's your vote happy or unhappy? Will you definetely recommend it or there is a better choice. My decision will rely on your impartial vote and comments.

it lies in the quality of the board. As jonnyGURU once said, there is quite a gap between a good KT7-RAID and a bad KT7-RAID you could find on the street. If you get a good one, it's really good; but if you get a bad one, you will end up getting another one.

If you just talk about the design and the board itself, KT7-RAID is excellent. But it is the quality control that hurts... So it ended up depends on your luck...

Got a "good" KT7-RAID and it is the best m/b I have worked with. Very stable and highly configurable. Best part is the RAID 0 setup with 2 Maxtor 7200RPM drives. Easy setup and incredibly fast.

With my $60 Duron 650, this has been one of my best purchases ever...

As long as you keep your bios updated...and use the newest drivers, all is good. The board kicks monkeys around the block all day long.

P.S. Make sure you take the time to go to theUnoffical KT7 FAQ

It is a dream board for me. It is an upgrade from a Tyan Trinity 400(very bad gameing board). I had all sorts of trouble with the Tyan, not very stable, not very fast. But my KT7 seems to be very stable so far and very fast. I love it.:)

first of all, do you even need the raid capability? if you don't need it, I'd recommend that you don't get it - extra stuff on a board only contributes to extra problems to deal with. If in the future you ever find the need for a raid controller, you can always buy the pci version and add it on later. current ide raids only do raid 0, 1, and 0+1. if i didn't need raid capability right off the bat, i'd wait until they come out with an ide raid 5 solution. get the asus A7V.

Thank you all for your participation and help.

Based on the responses from different forums (7 forums, 20 response, 3 3 unhappy, 12 happy and recommend, 5 neutral depends if you get a good KT7-RAID or a bad one and other factors), ABIT KT7-RAID is the choice.

Will you still chose the KT7-RAID if you are able to turn the ASUS A7V into a RAID capabilities mobo as mention at www.tweadhardware.com?

this board is useless w/o the RAID, get the RAID version, it's faster than my SCSI drives
