I'm looking for a new 21inch monitor.
Price range: around $1000.00

Initially I didnt think I wanted an aperature gille display cuz I thought the lines would be too distracting.

Well, I finally got a chance to see an aperature grille display close up & lines or not, my personal opinion is that the clarity, brightness & color saturation is FAR superior to a shadow mask display. (I viewed a Sony E400 at a local Circuit City but unfortunately, thats all they had)

So I think Ive got my choices narrowed down to 2 AG models.
Sony G500 (the Sony F500 is a bit outta my price range)
iiYama i20a

Since I cant see these in person & looking at pics on the web isnt helping me make up my mind, could you guys please vote & help me make a descision.

Any links to "REPUTABLE" online shopping sites with low prices on these would be greatly appreciated to.

Any other suggestions on 21inch AG displays would be welcome to.
I'm patiently looking for the perfect monitor for around $1000.00

If your willing to spend that much money then I HIGHLY recommend the Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 200 22" Truly Flat Screen this thing is simply amazing! I gaurantee you wont't be disappointed!

If you want the best there is this this is it! If you want to see a pic of mine click >>> HERE (btw this picture doesn't do it justice it looks a thousand times better in real life) The one showed in the pic is the Mistubishi 2040u which is the exact same monitor but it has a USB hub and few other minor features. The physical apperance of the two is identical.

Just to give you an exampple of how sweet these things are...a friend of mine who works for Microsft came over and was in shock when he saw the thing. He went out and bought 2 of them! 2 of my other friends from work also bought one each after seeing mine. If your going to spend that much money this is the one to get! There is a very high demand for these so you might have to do some looking around. Good luck!

Also I used to work for Sony doing PC and Monitor support. Before I went to work for them I loved everything SONY. After working for them for 2 years I realized that there suppport is crap. I had people who called up with a 2 week old 21 monitor that blew out on them. 2 months later they recieved a !!REFURBISHED!! somewhat banged up replacement. I actually heard one of the head people say "we're not worried about customer service we're concerened with releaseing the best product first.......regardless of customer service people will buy because it's Sony." This is just my humble opinion but from my first hand experience there I've made it a point not to buy Sony products anymore.

wow that's kinda scary
but Teddi what do you want that monitor for? price to size escalates extremely heavily with monitors. personally I would prefer for that money a superb two 17" (perhaps you could even get two excellent 19" for that money). all I know is that people who have tried dual monitors love them and don't want to go back.

I'd recommend the Sony G500 but 2 x Samsung 900NF is something to lose sleep about! :)

If price is of no concern, then by all means get the Sony G500.

But if you want something that is basically just as good as the Sony, check out the Samsung 1200NF.

edit: Lol I had 900NF there instead of 1200NF for a while. Oops!

Using the G500 right now at 1600x1200x32 @ 95Hz. It can do 98Hz but the Windoze driver wouldn't allow higher custom refreshrates. BTW, the Mitsubishi monitor offers nowhere near these refreshrates (and how the heck is it 22" when its viewable area is only 0.2" greater than G500's? :D) Everything else on the G500 is what you'd expect from Sony--exceptional brightness, color saturation, the screen is flat, etc. The G500 is quite improved from G400 (I've owned that one too), with a BNC input, higher refreshrates, more screen controls, and some other misc things. If quality is your thing, can't go wrong with this one.

BTW, my G500 was refurbished from Ubid.com. See my detailed report.

G500 all the way. Samsung has the best customer service, but you'll only get average with SONY. But it's certainly worth it because of the product.

I know personally that Sony's customer service sucks on their big screen tv's, so I would have to say Mitsubishi.
Too bad to because the Sony definately has a gorgeous picture, but I think the Mitsu is just as good.
