I'm afraid to ask what SACD is. Don't tell me they added a drum track to it, or something.

If Pink Floyd never happened... would the world be a different place?

I never got what the big deal about them was. Bunch of art rockers.

eh. I think they were innovative without quite being influential.

they're not my cup of tea, but if they were at least greatly influential, I could give them some respect for that.

I'm gonna have to call you on the Beatles. I think they'd do fine... They started out as a total pop group.

true that. when they were pumping out two albums a year they were basically mindless pop.

I've got a mouse and he doesn't have a house I don't know why I call him Gerald. He's getting rather old but he's a good mouse.

Oh yeah, the teenyboppers would love that!

I agree...they might do well on the college circuit but outside of that I doubt they would have the success they have now.

Most of the crap today is just a rehash of yesteryear anyway.

It wasn't until Dark Side of the Moon that they really "made it".
And that was pretty mainstream.
If Dark Side came out right now, I think it would be extremely popular.

Meddle was one of the best albums ever made and it came out before DSOTM

Yes, I'm aware of that and I agree with you. Meddle and Animals are my favorites.

But people are saying that they wouldn't make it with songs like this one below:

My point is that even then they didn't really "make it" at that point. They had more of a cult following until DSOTM.

well, the sex pistols and ramones wouldnt have had anything to revolt against.
punk was a complete rejection of the prog rockers and 'art rock' with longer songs, solos and what was that again...musical proficieny? im not saying the sex pistols or ramones are bad, they just werent the best musicians in the world. ramones better than sex pistols but no where was talented as floyd.

so, there's your answer, in a nutshell.
