<< whats the dif btwn manual auto and auto manual? i thought they were all "autostick.." and where's paddle shifting? Heheh. but i would go for manual.. i can drive it, just need a little practice as i haven't in quite some time... first car was very lucky to get so i really can't complain about it being auto :) >>

<< How about a sequential paddleshifter with a robotic clutch, ie the new M3? It's the future of streetable sports cars, lemme tell ya . >>

You're both asking about the same thing. A Manual Automatic is just a normal automatic that you can manually tell it what gear to be in. An Automatic Manual is one where it actually has a manual transmission that is comptuer controlled to shift automatically (like in the M3 as you mentioned).

I initially read the thread title as, pick your tyranny. I'm thinking, okay, what's worse, Cuba, China...

I guess I'll be one of the few fuddy duddies and pick Auto (although I do want my next car to be a V6 with a decent amount of power.) I enjoy driving stick from time to time, but in everyday driving for me (about 40% interstate, 60% stop and go on normal roads in a fairly heavily populated area) it gets VERY old very fast. Hell, the interstate is sometimes more stop and go than roads with tons of redlights! Being able to throw the stick back and feel the acceleration is nice and all, but it's probably not in my best interests (saftey-wise and ticket-wise) to be getting into my daily commute THAT much. If I was still five years younger my opinion would probably be different.

Auto - (I can drive stick, but don't care to)

By the way, I can drive stick with my right hand controlling both the steering wheel and the shifter and with my left hand doing other stuff (i.e. eating, holdng a cup...) in any road conditions. :D

Where do you live? Remind me never to go there. :) Don't worry, I can drive while holding a newspaper in one hand, and a burger in the other. my knees will be occupied by the drink they're holding. :D
