Sticks are better, but suck in bumper-to-bumper traffic or if you have a drink in hand.

<< Manual - (I can drive stick) >>

No question at all. I hate automatic trannies. When I get my car in June/July, it's GOING to have standard tranny.

With the exception of my first car, all my cars have had manual transmissions. You can't beat the power of a stick.
On the other hand I may consider something like they have in the acura rsx's with the sequential sportshift thing for the next car I get, as my wife isn't the best at driving manual and it sucks having to do most of the driving on long trips.

Manual - (I can't drive stick, but want to learn)

I wish my little prelude was 5 speed :(

My next car is definitely going to be Manual, but that won't be until this car is shot and I actually learn to drive stick :D

my biggest requirement when i was looking for a car this fall was that it was a manual. Ended up witha 4spd. It could stand to have another gear or two, but its a stick nonetheless

A friend of mine has a CL-S, and let me tell you that techtronic shifting thingy is not nearly as fun as a regular old 5-speed. It wasn't really fun at all... I drove his car around, and just went back to 'normal' auto, since the whole +/- shifting did nothing to make the experience more fun.

I'll never buy an automatic transmission car. Unless of course Josie Maran is handcuffed inside of it :)

My next car will be an auto, I'm tired of driving a manual on the street. It gets old with all the traffic in this area. I wouldn't mind having the kind of tranny that I have in my race car to use on the street. It's basically a semi-automatic transmission. It's an automatic with no torque converter, so I have to shift it, but I don't have to use a clutch to do it. Just two sequential gears, shifted with a bump shifter. I guess the closest thing to that would be one of those autostick things that Chrysler has or the tiptronic.

BTW: Am I the only one that thinks the title of this thread sounds a little odd?

2002 Dodge Dakota, 4.7L V8+5 speed transmission and Limited Slip differential. It's like a muscle car with a bed without muscle car insurance (I pay $1600/yr as it is, clean record)

I have Tiptronic (Clutchless Manual) on a 2002 VW Passat 1.8 Turbo and i love it. Its great to have the versitility to control your gears when ya wanna, and other times just to sit back and let it do it for you. I learned how to drive on a stick, but when it comes to traffic, manuals suck :D

stick is great on the highway or rural areas, but being in big city traffic jams with a stick sucks monkey butt!!:|

Where is Auto - (I can drive stick)? It has nothing to do with not caring to but rather the fact that manual was not an option.

Was gonna make a Rupaul crack but have been beaten to the punch.

Anywho, I would rather have a stick in all situations besides stop and go traffic in a hilly area (as in: driving my car in rush hour traffic here in Atlanta is a big pain in my ass). Otherwise I like the added control a manual gives you (engine braking and ability rev out a gear if you need to move quickly or pass)

It's not what you HAVE, it's what you WANT.

How about a sequential paddleshifter with a robotic clutch, ie the new M3? It's the future of streetable sports cars, lemme tell ya :).

but i would go for manual.. i can drive it, just need a little practice as i haven't in quite some time... first car was very lucky to get so i really can't complain about it being auto :)

Well, well, well maybe when I trade in my 2000 Passat with the 5spd I won't loose as much if this trend in the pool continues with the USA.

BTW all 4 of my cars have manuel trans and even my wife of 23+ years wouldn't have it any other way.
