What is your favorite Darren Aronofsky film. For me its a tough choice. I loved both movies, but overall I think Requiem was the better film, so it gets my vote. Pi was still an incredible movies, and even though it was made with only $60,000 it has more to it than most other multimillion sci-fi flicks.

I'm expecting a landslide with Requiem, but Pi is definately an excellent movie, much better than the stuff in the theatres now. I can't wait to see what Aronofsky will make next.

So they *were* made by the same director! I thought that drug-taking scene was wayyyyy too similar. :p

Requiem is a much better movie overall. Pi is a better movie to see in an old theater at midnight with friends who haven't seen it before. :)

Pi Gets Net Release
arren Aronofsky's independent SF film Pi will be available as a pay-per-view Internet download on the SIGHTSOUND.COM Web site until May 12. The acclaimed movie, which earned Aronofsky the Director's Award at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival, is being offered for $2.95 in the Windows Media Technologies 4.0 format.

Pi is about an eccentric mathematician who creates a computer that may be able to predict the rise and fall of the stock market. After playing at various film festivals, the movie had a successful limited theatrical release in 1998 and is currently available on video.

I guess so. I would like to see that.

I bought them both packaged together (DVDs) for $20...

I've only seen Pi so far, which is quite a good movie. Maybe I'll watch Requiem tonight...

I'm a huge Aronofsky fan, Requiem for a Dream is one of all-time favorites. The coolest thing is that he grew up in Brooklyn and went to the same HS as me (I was a fan even before I knew that :))!

Nightime is the best time to watch it. I first saw it about 3 days ago. I put it in at about midnight and no one home. It adds to the effect :)

I have not seen Requiem For A Dream yet. I thought Pi was really good. Besides how bad can a movie be if Clint Mansell is doing the soundtrack?

Requiem is so fscked up, it gets my vote for best anti-feelgood movie of all time. Its like watching a car accident on the side of the road. You just can't take your eyes off of it.

I have loved Aronofsky since Pi....they're so different, but I don't know if I could pick one over the other. And his next movie, The Fountain, got the go-ahead just a few days ago. w00t.

He is also supposed to be making a Batman film called "Batman: Year One". They say it isn't a sequal, but a complete restart of the movies. They were disappointed in previous Batman films, and wanted Aronofsky to head it and get back to the original comic feel.

I thought they weren't making this anymore b/c of the Batman & Superman film. Anyways, he's working on a new film called The Fountain.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=sto...iety/20020725/film_variety/film_fountain_dc_1

"While the script has been kept under wraps, it's safe to say that "The Fountain" is the sort of film that defies easy loglines. It's the journey of one man (Pitt) in the present as well as both 500 years in the past and into the future. Among the issues it tackles are love, death and immortality. "

I bought the two-pack at BB for $15. Seen both but Pi was the only one I opened to watch again, so I guess Pi.

I just saw this DVD (Director's Cut) at Border's for $12 - should I buy it for this price?

I'm also gonna try BB and see if I get the same luck as yellowperil.
