I do this too ( a 7 with a bar ) due to working for a German Company they all do it. I also have a habit of using a comma for a decimal point ( 1,5 instead of 1.5 ).

The first habit is legit. The second habit informs me that you are a communist at best, a Cylon at worst.

I normally don't but I could see the value of the bar because a 1 can end up looking like a 7 in handwriting. For this reason I will slash zeroes so they arent mistaken for O.

I bar 7 and Z because it's normal in my country and it has a obvious benefit, since when I write stuff fast and badly like I do the 1 and the 7 can look the same.

I also do the closed 4 but not all people do this here.
If you round it too much it can resemble a 9 but for me doing the sharp corners when doing it closed is easier.

Yea, verily, my sevens are barred.
At one time I slashed my zeros, but have since ceased.

I just do it to add panache.

No. Different strokes for different folks I suppose but that's a waste of motion.

Exactly! People are so wasteful these days - if everyone just worked to cut down on their number footprint the environment would be a much better place

I write the bar through the 7. I learned it that way back in Colombia.

Only sometimes. I'm not married to it.
