To clarify ..... you're saying the kid is physically in the conference room? And not screaming from someone's house who has called in? If so, they should be stoned to death. I don't even see how anyone would allow this. Not even close to professional.

Any kid that shows up at a meeting where I'm trying to maximize my target vectoring into a new dynamic space deserves to be put to death.

Oh wait, I mean the parent.

My gut reaction is that they're terrible fucking people, but there's variables at play that can change my opinion.

Is this a normally scheduled important business meeting during normal business hours? Or is this some off hours BS that got into their family time? Was there a family emergency that required them to stay with their kids, but this meeting was so important that they couldn't miss it?

Yes.

Yes. And while its important, its not so important they couldn't skip it. Most of my work involves colleges and universities which have a different view on deadlines\requirements compared to the private sector

The golden rule: Never give a professor all the money up front. If the work stops, the money stops. It's amazing how much a PI can get done when they have to work to eat.

Labor laws should prevent hiring of children. Why are children working at this company anyhow? They should be in school!

About a month ago, wife and I and our not-quite-2 year old went to Penn Station for dinner. 2yo was not in a good mood, and would only eat fries for dinner. Wife says no and takes them away. 2yo begins screaming at the top of his lungs. Wife instantly grabs him and takes him outside. I finish my sammich, wife comes in... then I take him outside. We count cars in the parking lot and climb on patio chairs. Wife finishes, we go home and feed him there.

Wife and I agreed the whole thing was fairly mortifying, we will never be those parents that just ignore their screaming children in public places.

I don't understand how this happens. Why did they have the kid with them at work? Why wasn't it at school or with the babysitter? Why couldn't they just call in?

My dad use to take me to work, he owned the company though. I would never take my kids in, and ive had my share of just leaving places if they act up.
