Poll: Peer to Peer (p2p) is dead

My thoughts:
What's the point anymore? Except for one exception (I can only think of audiogalaxy) I don't see any of the p2p solutions cutting it anymore. The gnutella format is way too unstable and weak compared to what we all got used to with napster and scour exchange.

Agree or Disagree?

The poll is about peer to peer. That will never be dead because too many people depend on a "non client/server" network topology.

The only problem with peer to peer "music sharing" is the search functions. It's difficult for computers to connect through each other(at various speeds or processors and connections) and have reasonable search times. It's hard to say where all this is going to lead in the next few years, but I remember what it was like before Napster. People were making personal webpages and sharing through http and ftp. We'll always have ftp! 🙂

No way. The cat is out of the bag and the technology is only going to get better. The fact that p2p is decentralized will make it important for future business applications as well, not just for pirating stuff.
