Poll: PC Magazine is Suck!

i really should cancel my subscription to this rag... but dvorak is funny, even when dead wrong...

they had a video card roundup in this month's issue, all the standard players. what gets me is that in 3d winmark 2000, the gladiac ultra is almost 45 (fps? points?), almost 87% faster than the annihilator 2 ultra. what the hell did they do to that gladiac? and of course they don't play with the drivers at all (of course... neither does a certain hardware site we know and love...). the gladiac score still pisses me off.

Playing with drivers during reviews, would in my opinion be completely unfair to other cards, and hinder results. I totally disagree with screwing around with drivers during reviews they should all be default just like a standard user buys the card of the shelf with.

if one dirver enables something as default and has no check box to turn it off, and another doesn't, but has the check box there so it can be turned on, shouldn't that feature be enabled on both cards?

PC Magazine has to review stuff the way the average idiot would use it. So, most people haven't a clue about various settings, etc., so to be fair you have to use whatever comes out of the retail box. I know it's what Mother would do.

But there are plenty of other things about that mag that are sub-optimal.

man i hate pc magazine. i got a subscription kinda on accident, and figured oh well it will be usefull. Its for normal people..they review systems by compaq and gateway and dell...ect. All the writers are a bunch of stupid geeks . PC MAG IS SUCK! DOUBLE SUCK
