where does orgo come from? ochem makes sense... orgo?

im at school in the east and the term is orgo. most of my friends back west (uc system) refer to the class as ochem... just thought it was a little interesting.

mabye just north east then

in pa everyone said orgainc, like "i have a ton of organic homework to do" same way in most of NE
