If you are given the chance to be the first person on a crew of five to go to Mars. However, there is no return trip home, but there is enough supply to live on Mars for 2 years.

Will you take it?

Only if I'd be able to take my girlfriend/wife with me. :D

And even then, I might not..

As much as going into space has always been my biggest dream, part of that dream is to return to Earth.

So no.

Can't say I'd do it. Things would get boring pretty fast, especially knowing there was no return back.. and only two years to live.

I actually probably would. I get to step on soil that no other human has ever stepped on, not to mention one hell of a trip there.

After being there, and experiencing the peace and tranquility of the planet, I probably wouldn't want to return to earth anyway.

Of course, I'd find some creative and cool way to die besides slow starvation and/or asphyxiation.

Depends if I could take my wife and baby with me. And if I could take a computer with broadband Internet access. (Wireless, of course. :p ) Another important consideration would be whether there would be another ship coming in two years with more supplies!

After you die on Mars, do you still get to go to the heaven/hell that everyone else gets to go to?

<< Only if I get to pick the crew. I start with Latecia Casta as co-pilot. >>

Uh, I thought you actually wanted to get to Mars. I don't think I'd be able to concentrate enough to land on mars with her there.

Man, those Quake3 ping times would SUCK. :D

Well, I'd consider it if I couldn't come home, but there's no reason to think they wouldn't be able to send a resupply ship if they could get people there in the first place. In that case, I might do it.

4 years ago, I would have said yes, but now I'm married. In a couple years, we'll have a child then it's a definite no-go. :)
