Poll: Of all the modern day muscle cars...

#1 Mustang because of it's axle.
#2 GTO because the muscle cars were orignally fairly sedate.
#3: Charger/300C (same car really) behind the GTO because of the extra doors
#5: I don't consider the current Impala platform musclecarable.

I agree the current Impala SS is an abomination, but it carries a muscle car name, so I had to include it. Plus I wanted to shame Chevy for abandoning their RWD platform 😀

The current Mercury Marauder isn't a musclecar in my book. The original Marauder was a two door car with a very large engine, 428 ci, compared to the stock engine, 302 ci.

My personal favorite is the 2005 Mustang GT but I would like to see more competition in the musclecar area.

The Marauders are awesome, I would consider it to be a muscle car just as much as the others listed. It fits the old school muscle category: big, roomy, and lots of horses.
2003 Marauder 0-60 in 5.1seconds
2005 Mercury Marauder

The original muscle cars weren't massive though. (except for some beasts like the Dodge Charger) they were generally smaller cars with huge engines. The muscle cars were huge by today's standard but back then they were smaller.

That's true. Alot of the Mopars back in the day were pretty big like the Challenger and Cuda, and as you mentioned, the Charger.

The challenger and cuda were actually smaller cars. 🙂 My dad's 67 charger is probably a good 20% bigger of a car than a Challenger. The Charger was based off the Coronet, which was a honking huge car. The Challenger/cuda was based off the Valiant/Dart, which was a smaller car.

By todays standards both are quite large though.
